Doctor Who Challenge: Day Two
There. It finally fucking lets me post the graphic. And hello, 10 and all your lovely companions! It's great to have you on my tumblr, and I'm sorry I can't pick all of you as my favorites. In the end, there really can only be one.
And that one is, sadly, not among you. Then again, she is also one a lot of people don't know about.
She is Allison Cheney from "The Scream of the Shalka."
If you are scratching your head now, hie on over to the BBC's website and watch this masterpiece for free.
Go ahead. I'll wait for you.
All set? Brilliant, wasn't it! And wasn't Allison great, too?!
Allison is just about everything I like in a woman, and everything I like in a companion. Smart, brave, passionate, unafraid to be right and to let everyone know about it, compassionate, dignified, and honorable. And also a fellow introvert! (Yes, we know them when we meet them. We have a supar sekrat handshake.) She loves the Doctor (and loves the Master too when she gets to know him), but doesn't put up with his bullshit or fall down on hands and knees to worship his timecock, which is what bothered me so much about a lot of Nine and Ten's companions (as much as I love them all). In short, she sees him as a person and not a god or magician. Their relationship is one of equality and mutual admiration rather than affection and dependency.
And, of course, my shipper heart believes that the Doctor, the Master, and Allison all fell in love and had hot, wonderful Timesex and Timelove forever and ever. But that is another story altogether!
Speaking of stories, Allison appears in just one more, as "Shalka" is considered noncanonical, thanks mot likely to New Who starting up shortly after it aired. It's the very Master-centric short story "The Feast of the Stone," which you should also check out.
Oh, you companions. Most of you are so lovely, so dear, that I can't just pick one of you, ultimately. Here are more favorites.
2. Martha Jones and Jack Harkness
3. Scream of the Shalka Master (who identifies himself as a companion, no less!)
4. Nyssa of Traken and Tegan Jovanka (Best Who femmeslash couple EVAR!)
6. Donna Noble (how refreshing to have a female New Who companion who isn't in love with the Doctor!)
