i’m moving to pittsburgh in a little over a month, so all my current anxiety is over getting everything ready so i can move there w a place to live and a job i feel like once i’m there and all this is realized i’m gonna be relatively okay. thank you!

538 is nate silver’s baby and my first love and i feel like a goddamn heel for cheating on it with pod save america!! it’s a politics and sports website with a data analysis focus. nate builds statistical models to assess probable outcomes for elections and playoff games or whatever and then dumbasses yell at him because his algorithms didn’t reflect their personal preferences. they have a podcast and if you are gonna add ONE more political podcast to your repertoire that is the one. the pod features aforesaid polling genius NATE who is dryly perma-bitter about everyone who’s wronged him and has a hot boyfriend; HARRY, a weather-obsessed old man in a millenial body; CLARE, the sharp and sensible political reporter who likes to read; and host JODY, everyone’s sweet socialist boyfriend who doesn’t do math but would help you carry your groceries. if you want to try an ep, the recent live show from the night of the georgia 6th was a treat. here is a song about harry enten. here is a little vid with harry and clare, i'm sorry harry can’t shut the fuck up but clare just looks so cute. here is jody breaking the comey letter news to harry. here is nate’s twitter, scroll down to his convo with ron fournier on april 23 to witness a murder. 

so obvs i love the personalities and they have bants and a lowkey flirty vibe i think you would enjoy but also 538 is such a great corrective to typical political commentary and advocacy. i learn a lot from their focus on data and their refusal to get carried away by conventional wisdom. during election season they were the only ppl saying that trump could win and explaining how. for me there’s something just very soothing and down to earth about how they talk through what we know and don’t know and how we know it. i wish i had a primer for you bc i’m like barely scratching the surface. hmm, really good point about pepper. my thinking was: runs the company, keeps tony in line, ornaments the premises, can’t personally design robots. i also considered maria hill, because she’s more of a jock, and rhodey, bc tony’s comrade in arms.
