He held her in his arms, as closely as he could. His heart thumped dully in his chest, cursing himself for not being there. She was so frail... she looked so small... even if she smiled at him, acted happy, he could feel her physical pain. Her system had quite the shock at his return and...

She trembled. She was still cold. His wings spread out and wrapped around them, burying his face in her hair.

"I'll keep you safe, Al.." He whispered against her cat ear, that was laying flat against her hair. It gave a slight twitch and he could feel her smiling against his chest, in her sleep.

He knew this chance wasn't likely to happen again. He was brought back -- by a fluke, but back either way -- and he was going to make it count. He was back with Allie... and now, with his wings, he was going to keep her safe. Away from anything. He swore to protect her.

He would make good on that promise.

She sat there in her wheelchair, crying. She knew she messed up. She knew it. She wouldn't blame Thorn if he left her for betraying him like that.

But the thought of that made her heart clench so painfully, she had to muffle her whimpers of pain into a pillow. He was so cold to her before he left... He needed her to trust him and she broke that...

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." She sobbed. "Please..."

But she figured he wouldn't speak to her again. What if he was so mad at her that they would break up?

Again, her heart clenched up. She gripped the pillow so tightly, her claws dug in and ripped it. She had to put it down, and crawled onto the bed, nearly falling between her wheelchair and then bed

The guilt weighed in her so heavily, she couldn't sleep. She laid there for what felt like hours, criyng on and off, thinking about Thorn's expression. A worried tug came from Alex, but she couldn't respond.

You're a horrible person, a voice told her. You're a horrible girlfriend.

Do you know about Psychology?

I'm sure you at least touched upon it a bit in high school, yeah?

Look, I know you're ignoring me right now and don't want anything to do with me, especially after... you know.

But at least listen. Okay? I'm not JARVIS. You can't mute me. I can talk all I want.

So I heard about the five stages of grief. Well, heard and learned in my Psychology class. I'd heard about it before and kinda got the idea of it already, so it wasn't hard to know about it when I had that class.

Anyways, there's Denial and Isolation, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance.

Now.. there's no specific way to go through these, and usually everybody goes through it. And you're no different. I'd say you're going through the first one.

And it all sounds so medical and it sounds wrong to categorize your grief and pain and--

Oh, don't look at me like that. You are in grief and pain. You can act like you don't feel anything, but the truth is you do. I would know.

Anyways, the steps are all pretty self explanatory, but I'll say what they are anyways.

Anger is when you lash out. You don't want to accept it. You hate that it's happened and start getting mad at everything and everyone, especially those who were there when it happened. Because they totally could have prevented it, yeah?

No.

Then there's bargaining. I'd imagine you felt you wanted to find ways to bring them back to life, even if it means going back to the Other World.

There's no changing what happened. They're gone..

Then there's depression. Many of us are in this stage right now.

And yes, I said us, because you aren't the only one going through this. We all loved Harri and Thorn. Maybe not as much as you, maybe more. But we loved them still. And we're all affected by their deaths.

It's hard to cope with. But... Divided we fall. We have to hold it together, all together, because none of us are alone in this.

Especially Wolfie and Thorns.

Do you remember how I was after Fisu and Kairo died? It was hard to deal with because I didn't have anybody at the time.

You guys all flocked together and helped me through it.

Well, that's how Wolfie and Thorns are right now.

And the final stage is acceptance.

Their funeral is on Monday. That's our closure. It's not gonna happen immediately, and it might not happen for a long time but...

I think you should go.

You'll need it.

No matter how much you pretend you don't care, you hate everybody and want to hide away forever...

You love Thorn. You loved Thorn.

And Harri was your best friend. Like your sister. Do you remember when you guys first met? You were attached to her immediately.

Remember when Thorn took you around the world?

Remember when you brought him back?

All the days you spent together with Harri.

You even gave yourself to Thorn.

You can't erase that. Any of that. There's no backspace on life.

You have to deal with it sometime or other.

The point is you aren't alone in this.

Okay?

Allie, I love you. You're my kid. You've been with me for years, since I first created you. You went through so many stages and now look at you... you finally have your family..

Don't give it up.

Anger

She had wandered from Cheryl's house hours ago. Nothing seemed to make her tired. Not even wandering the streets without even sitting down. She carefully re-entered Stark tower, one of the guards helping her sneak in. Allie was small enough so it worked. She was in the elevator and up to the apartment level, and it wasn't long before the feline had her uniform on. It was good she kept spares back in her not-completely-empty room. The silence was deafening yet reassuring and she felt she could think better. What had happened last night? Truly? Allie screamed at Cheryl. She screamed at Quinn. She screamed at Thorn. She shut her eyes and her face and stomach burned at the thought. But not with the anger she used to have, no... Allie was ashamed of herself now. She acted like a child, and found herself selfish and rude. But why hide what she truly felt? Since Tony's disappearance, Allie scrambled to keep herself together for the sake of her brother and mom. But nothing seemed to go right. Kairo was drunk all the time and Twatty seemed to distance himself. Allie wasn't alright, no matter how many times she kept trying to tell herself. Then Kairo was pregnant, and with Bruce's children and the fox seemed to easily replace Tony. She stood in front of her mirror now and gave herself a good look. Her face was paler than yesterday and the cover-up she had on was wearing off. The dark circles under her eyes contrasted heavily and her eyes, despite being in her human form, were bright gold, and her hair stood up in places, curling awkwardly. "Ugh... Shit.." She rubbed a hand down her face once and got to work. Nobody at school would see how she felt, she would not let that happen. But it wasn't long before he was back in her thoughts and she dropped her make-up kit, the contents spilling everywhere. "Fuck!" Allie's voice broke and before she expected it, tears were spilling down. "No, stop it..." But no matter how many times she wiped, she couldn't stop crying. Her knees wobbled and she slowly sat on the floor, sobbing. She wanted him there. She wanted him to hold her and tell her everything was okay. That things will be fixed and her family and friends still loved her. It was another selfish thought, and no matter how many times she re-opened her eyes, he wouldn't re-appear. Thorn had just recovered somewhat from his ordeal and here was Allie pushing his limits. And the thought only made her feel worse and cry harder. She would never move from that spot. Not for a long time.

Death.

Her body lay still, cold, unmoving. Her phone would buzz but she could never reply. Any blood that had spread from the stab wound in her chest was now dried against her clothes and skin. Her head tilted slightly to the side, almost as if positioned so she could look out the window. Her eyes would never open again. Her heart would never beat again. The fire in her would never burn again.

Allie was gone. She was dead.
