the Great Mother, i think, might be something of an overarching, embodied archetype than a separate being? the whole of the “female” spirits/entities i’ve encountered have in some shape or form represented this energy, which is why it’s often tagged in tandem.
the Great Mother embodies protective and stalwart womanhood, and the inherent feminine alignment in nature - not as a restriction, but a springboard for endless possibility and the freedom inherent to being alive, because being of any named alignment or label is to inherently open yourself to any other. it isn’t womanhood in the sense that a civilization of over-arrogant apes might perceive it, it is womanhood as demonstrated by the mantis, by the moose cow, by the mother turtle, by the honeybee queen, by the moon itself, by the Milky Way. ‘womanhood’ as a concept indescribable, and so much more than we are capable of comprehending. ‘womanhood’ that does not define the individual, ‘womanhood’ that is not defined at all.
everything is the child of the Great Mother. She is every goddess, every queen, every alpha, every star. She is the Big Bang. She is the Sol Nebula. She is the Earth itself. She is creation, and She is everything you’ve ever known. and She loves you.
