⭐Boudicca⭐
I have deliberately painted Boudicca mixed race. I love the idea that the Roman Empire stretched right across North Africa and through almost the whole of Europe across to Briton and that within that Empire people moved and travelled and trade was done and immigration took place. People discovering new countries and learning about new ways of life. I know the accounts of Boudicca don't say anything about her race... but I wanted to depict a more globally representative Briton than most people will allow for. We are delightfully multicultural and have been since we were first invaded. How truly exciting that our collective DNA is so colourful. ❤
