Hi lovelies, I have so many posts coming up for all of you - also a huge surprise, which is going to be revealed this week, hopefully. So stay tuned on all my social media to get the first look!
This winter, I have a series of look-books, hauls and posts on fashion that you might see off the streets or the ramps.
I've always wondered why people in India never adorn hats in their multiple varieties. It is always been seen as a western tradition. I know we might not have the actual seasons to flaunt winter wear or hats, but it could always be a fashion accessory or something that could complete your look.
As the designer Philip Treacy says - India is a hat heaven, but Indians don’t think so. Treacy has designed for the royal family of Britain, Lady Gaga, and a number of Hollywood stars. The designer showcased recently in Bombay, India and when asked if hats have a market today, he said; it's very strange that you’re Indian and asking me this question, as your country is a land of turbans and other headgear. We live in a world of culture and every culture has a history of hats. People have decorated their heads since the beginning of time and it will stay that way.
Something you guys may not have realised! Hats have been around for a very long time, perhaps from the time when animal skin was pulled over the head for protection. One of the first hats was found in a tomb paining at Thebes. It illustrates a man wearing a coolie- style straw hat.
I wanted to discuss 5 styles of hats - and the 5 styles of hats for your face type.
Knit Beret - Great for snow days, these close fitting yam styles give charm to coats and all kinds of winter wear. They flatter PETITE face types. These knits will overpower smaller features. Tip - Sleek hair lets the hat take centre stage.
Oversize Bowler - Not for shrinking violets, this statement maker will dress everything and anything up. It balances SQUARE face types. The roundness of this hat offsets angular features and square jaws. Tip - If you are investigating or upto something mysterious, this hat look will work! The brim should hit just above the brow bone.
Fedora - Did y’all know, this style was originally designed for guys? This style looks fun, and is always my go-to hat style. This style is best for people with delicate features, Dainty faces give the hat a more feminine look. Tip - Switch the ribbons on the brim for a change of pace.
Newsboy Cap - A traditional cut gets funky with playful patterns. These caps are an easy way to spice up jeans on the weekend or even on a workday. This style suits short/ oval faces. Sharp, angled styles like these make oblong faces seem shorter. Tip - Wear this style with pulled back hair for a tidy, sporty look.
Beanie - The last style I’m going to be speaking about. The beanie is truly the most versatile style amongst the other hats. It definitely works on everyone. Tip - Try tilting the top of the hat to one side for an in-the-moment look. Cause who doesn't want to be in the moment?! Haha.
I personally am such a hat person, so I thought I should definitely help y’all find your style of hat. Now you can rock the season with the perfect style for you.
That's all for now, Internet Fam. x
