okay I really don't understand this trope (and neither does google passionsanddevotions) but I think a dark captain swan fic might play so much more on both of their instincts to run and only look out for themselves. I think they'd end up being some sort of outlaw duo. IDK I don't really write romantic Emma, I usually only write her as Gold's surrogate daughter because Daddy!Gold is the cutest thing okay yes and also Hook is literally never a villain for me because I suck. I love him way too much. I tried to make him a villain once and accidentally failed (read: the entirety of Intentional Fallacy) xD

  Maker, but I love angsty boys. He's got so many issues... I can understand the MageAngst but it doesn't make as much sense for him to be difficult with a non-mage. Fenris brings out my inner fixer though, it's weird seeing a character more screwed up than

Oh my god, he’s so fucking angsty when you’re a FemHawke Mage. I tried to romance him and it made me too angry because I was a good guy and he kept being a dick to me. :I
