Today is #transgenderdayofremembrance . We have lost 368 beautiful lights this year to murder, and I’m focusing on two people today. #LeelahAlcorn is what helped me begin to find myself in the community and advocate for our youth. Leelah committed suicide four years ago and her death still sticks with me. Locally, #allysteinfeld was a trans girl brutally murdered last year right here in Missouri. Ally’s death sits with me too, as one of the many reasons I’m still scared to come out and begin my own transition. If you have friends or family who are transgender or non-binary, hug them. It is still a very scary time for us in this country AND this is a date we wish didn’t have to have. But we will continue to remember all those we lost. It’s why I always wear my shirt for Leelah. #restinpower #translivesmatter https://www.instagram.com/p/BqZ35StjoFt/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1x2sagxx6u2sc
