Dustystar blinks a few times and looks over to Aloeglow as they walk, the night patrol being just the two of them. She doesn't respond immediately and it makes Aloeglow huff a little chuckle.
"Sorry, I didn't mean for it to just come out that fast."
Dustystar slowed to meet his stride, and she could feel him lightly flinch as her tail moved to hold onto his.
"How long?"
Aloeglow sighed.
"Ever since you decided to mentor Lilyshade. Seeing how nicely you treated her... How much she treated you like a Mother figure... I started seeing you as more than just my best friend."
She let him talk and once they reached a nearby clearing, she had them both stop walking. Motioning him to sit down she put a paw on his.
"I... Think I love you to. I just didn't want to bring it up since... I don't know. I was worried that I would be intruding on you and your family. Helping you mourn Lilyshade's mother's death I..." Aloeglow quieted her by pressing his thinner and taller body against hers, nuzzling his nose into her head fur.
"I did love her... But I love you right now, and Lilyshade always talks about how she wants me to be happy... And you make me happy."
Dustystar nuzzles into him in turn, feeling herself choke up with emotion.
"You make me happy too."
