I’ve decided to throw a simple animation “skeleton” together that I’ll use for the actual animations frames. This is slowed down and basically “first ideas for key frames” of an idle animation, and a stab. I thought about doing stretching in the skeleton, but I think that might make it more difficult for the actual animations when they come along. But then again, I guess we’ll see how long the skeleton lasts. I know I want to have customizeable appearance (which will be different layers, different hair is just it’s own sprite sheet on top for example) which this system would be very easy for, though, while a big inspiration for me, I do not want to go for the style that Unexplored goes for. Don’t get me wrong, I feel Unexplored looks great, it’s just not the aesthetic I want for “J’ardscape”.
I need a better title, I think, but I sure don’t know what to call it yet.
Oh yeah, one thing that I specifically thought about for this. This is supposed to be a light hit. So while they definitely put their weight into the strike, the fall short of fully extending, with their arms moving a bit further without the additional weight. In theory it makes the attack look softer, and easier for them to pull back from.
