toriel and alphys were close before alphys became a teacher, and got even closer after the divorce, bordering on romance, but once alphys got the job, it suddenly and somewhat unexpectedly became a lot harder to be involved with each other because being coworkers made it awkward. alphys being bad at hiding that she crushes on asgore too probably also caused some unspoken tension between them. they both still have feelings for each other, but neither is really able or willing to do anything about it. especially now that undyne has caught alphys' eye and sans toriel's.

- Okay, so her crush on Asgore might have carried into her crush on Toriel. She has a thing for big, fuzzy Boss Monsters, alright?

- Toriel loves how prominent their height difference is, because it means she gets to make a lot of short jokes. Alphys is unamused with most of them.

- When it comes to hobbies, one thing they can agree on is that they both enjoy exploring. While Toriel’s not much of a fan of the garbage dump, she does admit that some neat stuff can be found there.
