"I dreamed it but you made it happen. You are much much stronger than I am!! In my heart I have always wanted to be in the mountains not in Florida. Love you!!" - my @adventure_momma_ Long before photos of girls backs on top of mountains was a thing on instagram, I was staring off into great wide open spaces while my mother photographed me with her Nikon camera, which she's since passed down to me. But today, hanging out in Yosemite Valley, with @sailortheroaddog while my friends climb big stuff, my momma proved she was dreamily staring off over The Valley long before I was even a glimmer in her eyes, by sending me photos of her trip to Yosemite, some 36+ years ago. Being a fan of nostalgia, quite obvious with the pack rat decor motif I got going on in the Bandit, I posted them to my story and have gotten more messages from you guys on my #alpinebabe of a mother than any other stories I've posted. This warms my heart on so many levels. Feeling this bond with my mother, while she's still back in my home that never quite felt like home to me, florida, while I'm off in magical places that capture my soul to the point that leaving them seems nearly impossible, has made my home on the road feel even more rich with history, my personal & family history and not just the usual mind blowing natural & cultural history. Hearing from you guys about that connectivity between mother & daughter has closed the loop, making this great ever rotating circle of universal interconnection such a beautiful aspect of not only traveling but social media. The stories always matter but feeling those connections through sharing stories is what really makes this modern day nomadic lifestyle so rich & beautiful. So if anyone recognizes the location of this view of half dome, lemme know! @mali.mish.dan had the genius idea of recreating these photos myself and I wanna bring it full circle! photo cred: my dad!
