als is such a cruel evil disease, rest in peace Eric dane, you were an immensely talented actor who will he remember for decades to come. please be mindful that he was much more than his character, but a person, a father, and a husband when honoring his life.
hey guys! random post but may is ALS awareness month! ♥️♥️♥️
reblog this if you will!
now you're probably asking why I'm posting about it? well, my mom had ALS and sadly passed at may 22, 2023 after a 3 year battle with it. there is no cure for als but they are researching for one!
red is the color for als awareness, wear it proud!
what is als?
"ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, causing muscle weakness and eventually leading to paralysis. The disease progresses at different rates for each individual, and there is no way to predict how quickly it will worsen."
here are links about awareness / about ALS
May is ALS Awareness Month. Learn more about awareness month, and see how you can participate, here.

[Bit of a personal post] Explaining my sudden inactivity...
I know most people probably don't care, but I feel bad for pm disappearing from this blog with no explanation, even if it wasn't for long. And I feel bad for not interacting with my moots (who I appreciate so very much 🫶).
Some of you may remember my personal post from a while back, but I'm guessing most don't and that's totally okay. Long story short, my family has been in a rough spot recently with my uncle being diagnosed with ALS. It was the most rare type (we were told): developing at a pretty young age (late 30s), genetic, progressing extremely quickly (quicker than any of his home-help had seen before), and leaving him extremely little time left with us. He lost his brief but courageous battle with the disease a few weeks ago. He leaves behind a preteen child, who is already in a messy family situation with their mother and step-dad, and who is having a difficult time in school. My family is extremely close, and this has rocked us to our core. I am one of the mentioned child's rocks, and I have needed to be extremely available to them through this whole ordeal. I am one of my mother's rocks, and I have had to be there to talk her through all the extreme emotions she's been feeling about it all. I've had to explain to my sibling what it all means (they are autistic and had a hard time understanding/feeling what they were meant to sometimes). I feel like an awful person because I feel I didn't spend enough time with my uncle before he left us. I just couldn't bring myself to see him like that, but I regret that so much now. I will never again be able to laugh with him while playing games, I will never again be able to sing for him at a choir concert, I will never again be able to go to his house to just hang out with him and his child, I will never again be able to make another playlist on his phone for a family road trip, I will never again be able to watch a new TikTok he's sent me randomly (usually of cool music or a lovely inspirational message or a comedic one that just screamed "him"), I will never again be able to eat one of his amazing home-cooked meals he loved cooking for us. There's so much I wish I could continue to experience or could've experienced with him that I never will.
This is my first time dealing with grief like this, and my parents are also causing me a lot of stress (I can't even begin to get into this). It's due to these things that decided to just keep my mind off of everything by throwing myself into this blog, and Stranger Things, like never before.
I burned myself out on it. Pretty badly. Luckily, this burnout doesn't seem to be lasting a really long time, as my motivation seems to be coming back now, but it was completely gone for while. I would post when something came to mind, but I didn't have the energy to scroll through my feed at all.
I've actually been sick for a few days, so any motivation or energy I had gained went away again 😅... but now it's back! I plan to start posting/reblogging regularly again tomorrow! This blog really does provide me with copious amounts of happiness and comfort (as does Stranger Things), and I'm ready to get back to it!!
Thank you for reading all this if you've gotten this far! I tried not to make it too too long; there's actually a lot more I could be sharing tbh...
Anyways, I missed you all so so much and I'm looking forward to being active again! <3
Something that upsets me with the USC ice bucket challenge is that people are forgetting what it was originally for. Yes, i 100% agree with mental health, but people can get HELP for mental health. The 2014 ice bucket challenge for ALS should still be mentioned. ALS isn’t a joke nor a trend and should be recognized as an issue that needs to be dealt with. Now people see the ice bucket challenge as a trend which is why it’s important to not stop talking about ALS.
I have a paradox. I have this friend who is an identical twin. His bother has ALS. And I just... it's weird, because I used to be (and still kinda am) jealous of the fact that they got to grow up together, but at the same time, I can't imagine what it would have been like to have had that and then watch my sister slowly lose function of her body and fade away. It's horrifying, honestly. Anyway... please pray for my friend and his family. This is so hard on all of them. It's a horrible disease.

The Return of the Ice Bucket Challenge: How Football and Pro Wrestling Are Uniting to Fight ALS
If you were anywhere on the internet back in 2014, you undoubtedly remember the Ice Bucket Challenge. My social media feeds were flooded with friends, family, and celebrities alike drenching themselves in freezing water for a good cause. It was a cultural phenomenon that raised over $115 million for research. Now, over a decade later, the challenge is making a viral return. But this time, the…
