My weirdly specific cartoon rant for the day: So I caught a little bit of Tom and Jerry the other day and it was a short where Jerry befriends a baby woodpecker and defends him from Tom, and then I started thinking about all the Internet takes where they're like 'I hate Jerry cause he's always mean to Tom who hasn't done anything wrong!', except that I find this to be completely and utterly wrong? Sure, there are shorts where Jerry gets away with antagonizing other animals to get Tom in trouble with them (typically Spike and Tyke), but there are also plenty of shorts where Jerry takes care of small animals that Tom either wants to eat or wants to sell them for money. Tom isn't completely innocent, just look at that short where even cat heaven called him out on antagonizing Jerry beyond what was normal for a simple predator-prey relationship.

Both of them are equally terrible to each other but can also be best friends if there's a situations and that's what makes the shorts so fun.
