Another Jackie Burkhart headcanon !
Jackie loves Jane Austen. And not just because of the romance. But because she can relate and empathize with the characters. Lydia Bennet for example was 16 silly and naive but brave and manipulated by a man she thought loved her possibly slept with him before marriage. And because of that mistake was guaranteed unhappiness. And that reminds me of Jackie in some ways and Jackie probably like many Austen fans re-reads her books often and throughout her relationships she relates to characters and events a little differently. She’s also quite like Catherine Morland incredibly romantic naive and still has to learn quite a bit about reading people. Believes real life to be like her favorite books.
I think Jackie reads Austen constantly to the point where she’ll be with the group just reading her book and suddenly just burst into giggles or just little exclamations and eye rolling. And everyone’s like seriously Jackie is it really that funny ? Also seriously protective of those characters.
Now the romance : I think she likes Mr. Darcy, Mr. Knightley, and Mr. Tilney as characters buts doesn’t truly apply them to her own expectations for a boyfriend. Because they are apt to challenge Elizabeth, Emma, and Catherine. And those relationships change all the people involved and help them grow and mature as people. Which in the first few seasons of That 70s Show is not how she treats relationships she wants someone who agrees with her all the time and treats her like a princess. But I think as she spends more time with the gang and sees mr. and mrs.forman and even starts hanging out with Hyde I think she understands the value of relationships like those above.
She loves watching the 1940s P&P movie. Despite critiquing it the whole time. Talks through most of it. Hyde knows her opinion on it and basically every other book Jane Austen had ever written by heart.
