For anyone keeping track of my obsession with Scully’s early season fashion, I realised that I already own so much stuff in her style, which I bought even before watching the show. (Maybe that’s why her style appeals to me though other people call it unfashionable.) Anyway I wore something she would wear - a white blouse buttoned all the way up, plaid slacks, a matching collared jacket, a wristwatch, and sensible shoes - to go get groceries, and this middle-aged white woman approached me while I was looking at lebanese bread. Now, I’m a very visible minority in an otherwise WASP-y suburb, and I’ve been harassed at the shops before, so I was highkey bracing myself. But all she said was, “You look SO beautiful today. I love that outfit.” Whether that says something sad or heartwarming about society, idk. Point is, I felt great, internally and externally. And imma keep dressing that way.
