She had lost them all, an empty void situated in her darkening heart that began to eat away at what was left of her. A shell of a grieving woman.
Wanda Maximoff found herself at a point beyond - of no - return.
Stuck in a battle with her own somnolence from a long, burdensome period of lamenting. Not a soul who hadn’t lost their kin, their other half and a loyal friend, could truly blame her. Enveloped in her river of tears, shrouded in a cloud of red mist, she welcomed the sleepiness with heavy eyes.
An angel came to her in a dream, haloed by the light of what she surmised to be the sun, warm and inviting smiles that adorned the celestial being.
“(Y/N)?” She whispered, voice hoarse from the constant mourning.
The girl beamed at her, caressing the apple of her cheek with a cool, comforting hand. Solace was what she needed right now.
“I don’t understand, I can feel you,”
Wanda shook her head profusely, as if to convince herself this wasn’t real, yet, in secret, hoped it was; your tangible hands and soft skin.
“It doesn’t seem like it, but I’m right here, Wanda,”
(Y/N) nodded, averting her hands to the redhead’s heart, “In here,” She directed her hands to Wanda’s head, where the tumult of her mind raged with the death of her brother, “And here,”
“It’s not real-”
“No,” (Y/N) bore her eyes into her blue Sokovian irises, “Pietro, Vision, and me? We’re still here,”
“I just want it to end- this pain,”
“And it will, just keep me close, do not lose this part of yourself,”
A light and airy kiss sealed Wanda’s lips, and she sighed into the blissful touch of the woman before her, despite how fleeting it was, and she was soon brought back with the bittersweet essence of reality. While the tears had been drained, the grief, however, was not. This piece of solace that had been provided to her in a dream, was ample solace. Enough to fight the trials of the day.
Yes, an angel came to her in a dream, but that was all it was, and all it remained to be.
A dream.
