Very early, more detailed version of how I imagine Paron.

Basically every piece of art I ever make is heavily reliant on me being able to see it in my head, but since the images you see in your own mind aren’t limited to two-dimensional paper (digital or otherwise), it can become tough to truly match the vision you have. Still, I think this is a very good start.

Paron carries a lot of gear, both the expected basic First Aid equipment and dispatch radio (the latter being bespoke for their size), but also a lot of more unexpected objects. Blankets, firefoam “grenades”, a variety of multi-tools, all of them are carried within Paron’s various packets when on duty.

Their casual clothing, which I have yet to draw them in, is much less confusing to the eyes.

AUGH i fucking typed out a huge response to this but tumblr Ate it fuck my life. whatever. i’ll give little explanations for each of the ocs i mentioned in that post + what fishes they’re based on ^^

the summoner (he/him) - french/bahaman taíno immigrant who lived in britain during the victorian era. also a gay man who’s constantly in mourning of his late husband and taking it out on basically everyone now that he’s a ghost. yes his name is fake and yes he chose it himself. he’s primarily based on angelfish, but he also has some shark traits as well.

alsu makaira (she/her) - minister for her country and direct descendant of a sea god. mourning the loss of her queen/unrequited love and is very much Not Normal over it, especially since she has to be one of the people to help solve the case (she believes it was a suicide. she is wrong.) dryly sarcastic and quick to make assumptions about people, but extremely devoted (to a fault) to those she trusts. based on the kappa from japanese folklore, which isn’t exactly a fish, but whatever.

tsumugi makaira (she/her) - alsu’s younger sister (by like 3 hours at most) and the head of the aforementioned water god’s shrine; she has the same job as nikita, if you remember her. loves animals and children as well as the performing arts. very empathetic and kind, but hates being seen as weak/naive for it. also based on kappa, but she also has some untapped jellyfish motifs that i’ll need to refine.

hilal (he/him) - god there’s so much to him it’s hard to explain. he’s a gay man who has such unfathomably intense internalized homophobia that working with him is an active leech on your soul. he’s often compared to leviathan. he’s permanently stuck in the 1920s. he’s extremely codependent with (and abusive towards) his right hand woman, fusae. he’s genuinely one of my most reprehensible and vile ocs and i adore him for it.

aqil (he/they) - hsr oc! an aqua sprite and a starmapper (same job as melanie) who’s quite abnormal about humans. acts weird and shy but it’s not really his fault y’know. has learned a lot about humans over the years but can’t Understand them. he gets cucked at one point. pitiable little thang. they’re inspired by the flying fish.

hypnos (he/him) - pressure oc! trans guy who got taken in by urbanshade after being convicted of murder and put into an experiment to see if humans could grow additional limbs. he’s currently a hypersomniac living in the blacksite’s vents, but he still acts quite violently towards any humans he comes across. also he’s like, extremely psychosexually obsessed with sebastian and wants to kill and eat him yaoistyle. #normalthings. ranked by how obvious they are in his design, hypnos is gene spliced with octopus, squid, sea spider, and starfish dna.
