Two Feet’s music burns with a sultry, sooty heat unlike any other. With that smoldering drawl, ridiculously cathartic riffs, and his cinematic, fog shrouded magnetism, Bill Dess has made a lasting mark on the electronic and alt-R&B landscape. When the New Yorker teased us with long awaited news of a fresh single, our hearts fluttered wildly in eager anticipation. And now, Pink is here, except instead of pink, this song is more of a crimson flame. It sticks to us like a dark viscous port with the bitter twinge of a grainy wine aged in toasted, leathery oak. The broiling anthem, an immersive pit of gloriously seductive brooding, is out now via Republic Records alongside an official music video directed by Johannes Lovund. There’s no better way for Two Feet to announce his heralded return than a song as magnificent as Pink. “Fallback” we gladly do to the chill, mellow sounds of verzache and his recent single, which comes from the Toronto artist’s eight-track album Thought Pool. With a smooth yet scratchy drawl, he entices us into deep late night meditation with the dreamy alt-R&B/electro-soul jam. It’s a cozy yet splendorous ballad with lush strings and a snazzy bit of soft jazz to its fleecy suave glissade. verzache, aka Zach Farache, lists himself as a basement and bedroom producer on Facebook. On a cold, rainy day like the one we’re having in San Francisco right now, verzache is the perfect snug melting, heart thawing treat.

3AM is also known as the witching hour. For some, it’s a source of consternation, but as someone who isn’t easily spooked by the ghoulish and the supernatural, it might make more sense for me to consider that “witchiness” in a more sentimental sense. You know those long, sleepless nights when you can’t stop longing for affection and loneliness drags at the heart? That’s the sort of witching hour that REECE croons about on new song 3AM. “Does it ever feel lonely while you run around town?” he wonders with his creamy, fleecy voice on the steamy aching, viscous drizzling song. The Virginia-born alt-R&B talent seduces us with his dusky, dreamy reflection, a moody late night taste off REECE’s debut EP I’m Not Sure Yet, due out in early 2019. 3AM, which premiered on Billboard last week, was produced by Jazzy Feezy (Drake, Lil Yachty, Rick Ross) and written and recorded by REECE in Los Angeles. “This song is about those reflective moments a person has after a relationship ends,” he explains. “It’s about how difficult it can be watching someone you love move on with their life after the relationship has ended especially when you yourself haven’t quite moved on yet.” 3AM can also be found on Spotify, here.

Just when I think I'm famliar with Lyves' spectacular voice and intoxicating music, the British singer songwriter and producer drops a powerful and emotive new release like 100! The Londoner drenches us in nocturnal heat with the lush, lavish brooder, so elegant and opulent yet viscerally impassioned with a slightly ominous edge. 100 is tremendously cinematic and dramatic, like if gripping Weyes Blood went alt R&B, with taut strings and pressing, expanding swells. The track details the process of letting go and acceptance as narrated over a melancholic backdrop. Revealing the underlying meaning behind 100, Lyves recounts: “100 is about letting go of someone or something that no longer serves you and your growth. It’s about accepting an ending and stepping outside the shadow of hope. I’ve always been fascinated by the notion of hope and how even though it’s a beautiful quality in most cases, an immeasurable amount of hope can also keep you stuck at times. This song was about looking at that shadow side of hope. It felt like a real cathartic release to write and sing this. I hope it connects to someone who needs it at this time.” It's hard to believe we've been following along with Lyves for the better part of five years, considering how she's able to stun us anew with every new release. It’s no surprise at all that this new aiwake track has been making waves since it hit the scene over a week ago. The Canadian duo, who’ve already enamored us with past singles like Crescent Lane and Childish, hypnotize us with their dark sensual song, which floats in a realm between alt-R&B and brooding electronica with driving rhythms and distorted synths. aiwake tells a tale about modern relationships on inebriating Palm City, saturated with intricate syncopation and gritty dissonance. Palm City is like the dark cousin to Rüfüs Du Sol, beautifully delicate and expansively stirring, all at once. It’s a song for those sleepless nights. The city may be a bright beacon of bustling liveliness during the daytime, but at night, its deserted avenues echo our loneliness. Imagining ourselves cruising these streets to the tune of Palm City brings a strange sense of catharsis and meaning to all that seems empty otherwise. Palm City is out on Majestic Casual Records.
