Zynga Misses Out
As a fellow application company owner, I look for distressed assets in the property space that are a high yielding and strategically synergistic to my business plan. I am less than 1% the size of Zynga but as time turn we are both waiting for the same pay day. The legalization of online gambling to the point that you can bet as if the apps are casinos. A few years back, Zynga paid millions towards lobbing efforts to get laws changed and I developed a series of applications that can not be profitable unless this process is accomplished. So I looked and found a few gems that meet my business model but when the Revel Casino came up for sale at I started drooling. Being from the area and having a lot of my family in the casino industry, I have always been drawn towards owning a spot on the boardwalk. Yesterday the Casino was acquired for $83m and it is now a lost opportunity for Zynga and myself to push forward in the legalization process of on line gaming. The current market for gambling is over $300b annually and Zynga's historical relationship with their popular games like poker to pay under $100m for a chance to be a player and the first in the digital space by gaining a high yielding asset is something they should be kicking themselves for missing out on. If i had the mine i would have bought it like how in monopoly you buy boardwalk. Even if I mortgaged all my properties i would be over $78m short.
