I thought every altean have different color marks?

Before I answer this I want to make sure everyone knows this post is heavy with VOLTRON SPOILERS for season six.

Every male/masculine Altean I’ve seen has had blue marks and every female/feminine has had pink marks, with the exception of:

Hira (green in my opinion, but some people say they’re blue? it’s like the dress!)

Honerva (maroon, also seen on multiple feminine Alteans in S6 EP 4, but no masculine Alteans)

Romelle (blue)

Lotor (whose marks don’t show normally in the first place)

Some of the Alteans in S6 EP 4 (a lot of the feminine ones had purple marks, one of the masculine ones had purple as well)

Here is the list for Alteans that DO fit my original description:

Allura (pink)

Coran (blue)

King Alfor (blue)

Allura’s mom (pink)

Bandor (blue)

Altean Empire scientist from S3 EP 4 (blue)

The unnamed refugee Alteans talking to Lotor in S6 EP 4

If we assume that maroon and purple are also normal marking colors for Altean females, then that leaves the question of Hira, who is from an alternate reality where markings may work differently therefore this cannot be applied to our vld reality. Since Lotor’s marks don’t show normally, we can also eliminate him since it’s unknown what color they would be if they were present without Oriande’s influence.

This leaves Romelle and the masculine Altean from S6 EP 4. I headcanon them both as trans.

I really do thank you for this ask, it made me look more deeply into this theory, and I did have to adjust it to allow for more marking colors.

In conclusion, it’s a headcanon, and although it’s not exactly a hill I’m willing to die on... I’m still pretty confident with it. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Do you have any altean marks headcanons? Like if they glow or if alteans have more of them on their bodies or like they receive them as they age despite being born with the initial under eye crescents??? Sorry haha I've been obsessed with them and the idea of them lately

(this is new for me i’ve never been asked for headcanons so forgive me)

Headcanons for Altean Marks

   - I say Alteans do have more than just under the eyes. I think they have the marks on their biceps where the Voltron symbol is on the suits, and possibly on the side of their thighs as well

   - Though, my favorite place to say would be their lower back

   - they glow 

   - you can’t tell me otherwise

   - I also think the color of the marks go by either favorite color or hair color (like in my Altean edits where Keith had red, Lance blue, Pidge green, so on)

   - i still say they glow

   - A L L of them

That’s really it, I think? It’s late where I am and my mind is a bit fuzzy, so this was all I could think of (i tried too hard to make the glowing part funny ugh-)
