we live in a generation where being smart is uncool.

where all one needs is the latest sneaker, designer belts, and a gold watch, or a gold chain to get the “baddest” female.

all one needs to do is act like a famous person you see on tv.

they are not being themselves, which is an individual.

shows such as love & hip-hop are brainwashing our youth.

websites such worldstarhiphop promoting violence instead of trying to put an end to it.

instead of helping one another, one is so quick to do the opposite.

one is so quick to pull their phones out and not lend a helping hand.

people are too caught up in social media.

when the media itself picks and chooses what it wants to broadcast.

when in reality its always a story untold, or a huge piece of information left out.

one will love material items and use people, when obviously it should be the other way around.

families are not spending enough time with one another.

one will rather text than call.

one nowadays does not read recreationally to expand their mind.

they will rather watch foolish videos on twitter, facebook, instagram, and vine.

we wish away all of our time.

time we will never ever get back!

the young women fall for the dreadheads, trappers, pointless tattoos, and the money.

ladies what happened to liking a guy because he respects you, your body, treats you like a queen, and most importantly respects your family and their values.

along with your time, your energy, your feelings, your thoughts.

majority of the time I see young ladies often fiend for that “prince charming” prince charming could be fighting off a whole army for you and you would not even notice, because your paying attention to the fire breathing dragon who is currently putting on a facade.

the young men are disrespecting the young women.

calling them out of their names such as female dogs, gardening tools, “thots”, so on and so forth.

money is constantly being spent on things we REALLY want! but dont really need.

our generation has the power to change the wicked ways of this world. 

what is the power? the reader may ask, the power we have nowadays is all around us, which is technology.

but we rather use those pieces of power towards our own vanity.

such as capturing, posting, tweeting, and conversing about things that do not really matter!

we are in the age of technology, information comes across at light speed. you can record something right now and have it uploaded somewhere for people to see in less than a minute!

so why when we see things that are unjust in this world we do not properly come together as one and all try to find a solution to that problem?

you would think all this technology would help bring the human race together but in reality it is just destroying us!

we Alternative Demand have one question. What will YOU do to help make a positive change to certain situations, in hopes that it will cause a domino effect of positivity to have an impact on the world we live in?

Wolf of All Streets Mixtape Review

Today, I introduce to you New York female emcee Kiyanne. Kiyanne recently released a mixtape for digital download via iTunes titled ‘Wolf of All Streets’ on July 22, 2014.  They say art sales, I wonder how many sales Kiyanne received off the mixtape’s artwork itself. The album’s artwork has a drawn up version of Kiyanne (similar to 50 Cent’s ‘Massacre’ album cover) where it has her wearing a skinned wolf, a one piece, jeans, and Timberland boots.** creeping behind her is a bruised and battered heart, along with the city of NY in the background.

The Wolf of All Streets, features 13 tracks displaying Kiyanne’s versatility, various flows, and lyrical grittiness! 

Intro (feat. Thotty D)

Kiyanne starts of her mixtape with a comedic introduction featuring Thotty D., a ratchet alter-ego that she has created. Something that many artist do to show they too, can take on many different personalities through music.

Wolf of All Streets

From the way it starts off with people pounding their chest in a rhymthic tone, the actual song’s beat is a spin off of that. Instantly you hear Kiyanne’s tough, stern, and meaningful lyrics. Informing us all that she is the wolf of ALL streets!

Bars

"Kiy get it poppin’ you aint know that?!"

Once again, Kiyanne comes out of the gate, gunning for the competitions necks with her vicious bars!

A.D.I.D.A.S

Usually when people pick apart the acronym of the brand with three stripes, adidas; they tend to say things such as a.ll d.ay I d.ream a.bout s.ex (or stacks). instead of following the crowd, Kiyanne put her own little spin on it. Stating, “All Day I Dream About Shootin’…”. The song starts off with the choir harmonizing in the background complimented by a trap based beat, followed by a very aggressive Kiyanne. the songs seem to progress with toughness as if she is taken sensu beans before every track to continue to slay the competition.

All I Know

All Kiyanne knows is what she is accustomed to, keep doing her, stack this bread, and keep the burner on her. Hence the previous song A.D.I.D.A.S.

Dexter

Dexter, you know the show that comes on Showtime…? For those of you who have never seen the show nor have Showtime, Dexter is a blood splatter pattern analyst, who also lives a secret life as a serial killer. I felt as though I had to give that summary on Dexter so one can correlate the song with the television show. Kiyanne just simply murders the competition.

Interlude (feat. Thotty D)

Another comedic interlude showing how people try to be like Kiyanne, recreating things she does and feeling like she has came into the spotlight too quick. Most importantly Kiy…I mean, Thotty D. advises one to be like yourself, even if its your “whack ass self!”. The real message is just be you, and don’t worry about someone else is doing.

Say it Again

A smooth starting song, once that beat drops you get that trap like beat. A track I recently rode around blasting in my new car with the windows down. A very arrogant song, but thats how one has to come across sometimes when hate is constantly being thrown in your direction. 

"Said I wasn’t gone be shit, now look nigga I am thee shit!"

Court Me

A Timbaland sounding beat, that Kiyanne is singing on. I hope she doesn’t take this one with any disrespect, but her singing on this track reminds me of a young Chris Brown singing on his first album. Court Me, is a song about Kiyanne and a young man potentially being sexual partners but she doesn’t want to be locked down in a relationship. The song is cleverly put into a legal system play-on of words: interrogation room, court room, lock down.

Played Ya Self

Simply, Kiyanne’s past partner played himself. She did ALOT for him and in return he showed his ass, in the end REALLY only hurting himself. He was out there cheating on her, chasing a piece of tail, and thinking there will be no repercussions. Why mess things up with a queen for a peasant? Sorry for your loss brotha!

The Gram (feat. M. Rose)

One of the realest songs on this mixtape, gives me that Lyfe Jennings, ‘S.E.X’ feel. A story about how a young lady is doing all these things for social media sites. Showing off her young teenage body, skipping school, going against her morals, all for likes. A major cause she gets out of all this is a jealous insecure man that “put her on”, gets angry by the things he sees on her Instagram. He abused and raped her, all because she was “doing it for the gram”. Imagine if she had a positive father figure present in her life, all of this probably wouldn’t of happened. Most importantly a man shall NEVER rape a woman no matter how he is feeling. 

Hood Scriptures

The song gives insight on how many people are enslaved by name brand clothing, money, gang life, selling drugs and how they are a product of their environment.

Outro (feat. Thotty D)

Kiyanne is praying to God, asking for forgiveness and guidance but also thanking him for what she has grown to be.

Overall, I enjoyed the 36 minute listening session of Wolf of All Streets, a very well rounded mixtape. I have a feeling that Kiyanne will be the next big female artist she has the versatility, personality, flow, aggression. I advise you to just go check out the mixtape as soon as you’re done reading this!

Assassination Verb To kill suddenly or secretively, especially a politically prominent person; murder premeditatedly and treacherously. Lyrical Assassination! With an onslaught of words, names (Kendrick Lamar), and aggression. Big K.R.I.T. has shown once again why he is likely the most underrated hip-hop artist in the game and why he nor his music should be taken lightly. “Mt. Olympus” follows up a good amount of recent music released by K.R.I.T. titled the “Week of K.R.I.T.” Referring to Greek Mythology Mt. Olympus was the home of the 12 main Gods including the almighty Zeus. With K.R.I.T. putting himself atop this mountain he is the top of the rap game. With his newfound fame from the controversial verse from Kendrick on “Control”, the promotion of his new album “Cadillactica” and “Lac Lac” in heavy rotation he is finally getting the attention he deserves. So he dropped this track which I feel as though has been sitting in the stash for a while if you ask me this is just the perfect time to release it. -Rese-

#ItsAllLove Review

#ItsAllLove is a 6 track fan appreciation mixtape released that was released on April 14th, 2014 by Dumbass Dre & Simmybull via soundcloud all tracks were produced and mastered by Illkutz. This mixtape features many, many, many punchlines and shots are fired at people who tried to shed a negative light on these two young men.

The Corner (The Intro) The track begins with gaining the listener's attention with an introduction very similar to a wrestling match. How fitting, for all the deadly blows both artist take at the people who envy them trying to make it in the rap game. Both artist lay down some real lyrics from Dre rocking, and selling his Shaiit shit, to Sims being called Urkel but is now selling surfaces and smoking on that purple.

"realest in the game, newest as well..."

Keep your ears open for the whole "old on twitter" verse in this song had me laughing on how one can say that line so many times but yet it means so many different things.

Subs

Many shots are fired throughout the song to people who hate on these two guys.

"looking at the bench like what the subs do?"

"showed her a baby picture, she been in lust since '88"

Its All Love

A very upbeat track (sampled from Nu Shouz's 'I Can't Wait') filled with witty punchlines, real life facts, and situations. These two showcase their lyrical abilities proving that you cannot put them in a "bubble" that other rappers are in.

"are they out of Delaware?, no they can't be!"

a line that really stuck out to me in this song was :

"stop wifing bitches that had daddy issues growing up"

"MAN THIS SHIT GON' NEED A VIDEO!"

I Know

This track right here...well I really couldn't write about it because I really want the reader to listen to the lyrics in this song.

"how you gone hate on that 'ts like you break up with your girl & you want her back?!"

"you niggas only good for a block, Dikembe!"

"got your girl feigning to be a side piece"

"93 Bulls!" *ad-lib*

Is it possible that we could be witnessing two world champions on the same mixtape? Modern day Michael Jordan & Scottie Pippen of the rap game?

Shaiit Shirt

An 808 sounding beat one you might hear while driving around when its nice out, followed by gritty lyrics if one listens close enough, you can hear more bullets being reloaded for shots to be taken. Most importantly it shines light on Dre's clothing line Shaiit. 

"Shaiit getting more views than a porn site"

"if you said I was whack, don't ask for a feature!"

"we do it for the love, y'all do it for the money"

Dumbass and Simmybull "went in" (slayed, demolished, murdered) once again, with a huge chip on their shoulders. If you ever said anything negative about them as an artist and their music, I feel very sorry for you if you were on the receiving end of the disses.

Kevin Nash

Finishing off the mixtape with a smooth, electronic beat filled with more honest lyrics.

"my childhood is gone, I lost Mike & Jet Jackson..."

That line up above stuck out to me, because our childhood is gone, things like Michael & Jet Jackson which many of us grew up on are no longer here either, it can be viewed as a simple line but I look at it as a deep one too. One is no longer a child, one has to make "grown up" decisions that will be beneficial for their future, and I believe this mixtape is their way of saying that their music is their future, or their music is the future...however you want to interpret it.

"somehow I lost my mind chasing my thoughts."

#ItsAllLove is a solid mixtape filled with many punchlines, honest lyrics, and it displays the hunger these two young men have to make it in the rap game. The beat selection and ad-libs kept my attention amongst the many pictures that were painted. Dumbass Dre & Simmybull together are a dynamic duo, even though they can make it far solo (which they are) they just collaborated for a full mixtape like many artist do; to show they can adapt to one another in the booth. I enjoyed the mixtape and I am glad to know these two personally and watch them continue to grow as artist. Only time will tell when Alternative Demand will be reviewing albums for these guys. With that being said...Its All Love.

Grundy's Thoughts: Reality Television

Television: tells lies to your vision.

Reality television, let me first start off by saying that I really despise reality television. IT IS NOT REAL, many people flock to it like it is something amazing, for those who watch it, why do you? What is so enjoyable about viewing a facade? Fake fights, ignorant comments, inflation of the smallest problems, and most importantly the fake love. Nothing you are viewing is actually authentic life lessons real. If you want reality, turn off your television and look outside to what is really going on in the world. It is so much that we can change just by taking the blindfold off our retinas. Shit, even look at what is going on in your own household; Parents, please raise your children and not let them be brainwashed by “reality television”. Open their minds to endless possibilities such as, art, music, sports, reading, writing, history, and self worth. My parents did, and still do until this day. So turn off your brainwashing, false advertising,propaganda media, subliminal messaging idiot boxes and experience real life. Your own real life, and do not live by the things you see on tv.
