hi!! i love your art! do you have any tips for new artists? i've been drawing for almost a year and it feels like i've gotten nowhere

Hi! Thank you so much! I hope you don’t mind me posting this (if you do please IM me) but here’s a few tips:

Draw everyday! This might be a given but drawing daily really helps you improve! You don’t have to make finished pieces everyday,just get a sketchbook and doodle something daily,even if it’s just a 5 min doodle.

Use references. This is really important if you want to improve. Lets say you wanna learn how to draw hands: take a bunch of hand photos and copy them,by doing this your brain “memorizes” how to draw hands so after you’ve practiced for a while you’ll be able to draw hands without using a reference. ( I suggest using references anyway if you wanna get it 100% correct but this helps a lot if you don’t have access to wifi or something like that).

Don’t compare yourself to other artists! People always do this and sometimes I do it too. We often compare ourselves to other artists and think we’ll never be as good as them but that’s cause we don’t realize that it didn’t take them a day to become that good. It probably took them years + lots of hard work.Don’t think “I’ll never be as good as them”..instead think “someday I’ll be as good as them!”.

Take inspiration from other artists. This doesn’t mean you have to copy them but if you haven’t developed your style yet it’s ok to experiment and take inspirations from artists you admire. If you like the way someone colors,give it a try! If you like someone’s thick lineart,try it too!

Have fun! I know I said you should draw daily but it doesn’t have to become a chore. If one day you don’t feel like drawing,just don’t do it! Take a break,relax,do other things. You should create art because you want to,not cause you have to.

CHANGE

Alright guys, have a good look because this town is getting a new look! I know, spooky. The thing is, I have two copies of ACNL, but trying to maintain both of them while at the same time finding things to post on here would be hard for me. ★ Another thing is that having a zen theme is very hard, or at least I think so, because it’s hard to be creative and to make your town stand out from every other zen-themed town. Especially since I don’t hack my towns. ★ So, I’ve decided to do some sort of re-branding. It’ll still be the town of Eclipse, mayor Alva and all the villagers will still be here. I’m just changing the paths, the public works projects etc. ★ This might not be the last time this will happen either. I could change every two months if I felt like it. But for now, we’re saying good-bye to the zen town, and welcoming a summer-y town. I know it’s a pretty bad idea with the fall season coming in just a few weeks, but I’m still going through with it. I’ve already put out some paths and I will soon post progress photos. ★ I hope the few people that follow me is okay with this, of course, if you’re not; feel free to unfollow me. This blog is for sharing my town progress and just me having fun with animal crossing, after all.

So sorry I haven’t posted anything for almost a month! I have celebrated my birthday and had some other struggles preventing me from posting.  ☾ ✰ I thought a good way to come back is with Marcel being worried about you and he wants you to take care of yourself! Self-care is important and so are you.  ✰ ☽

I'm not dead! 🌹 As some of you might know though, I do have a puppy which means a lot of responsibility and not a lot of free time. 🌿 But I've been trying to fill my joke book and it's finally complete! ☘️ You can also see a glimpse of my new paths! 🌱 Take care. 🐻

Progress!! I've wanted to use these paths for a long time but since I used to have a dark, forest-y theme to my town it wouldn't look very good. Oh, and don't mind the hair, it was so I could get meow coupons.
