Tyranny of Tavfools
Session 1: “A Beautiful Day in Waterdeep”
**This campaign uses the bones of Adventures in Waterdeep and Tyranny of Dragons for the overarching plot and is fleshed out with homebrew side quests and NPCS**
On one late Summer day in the month of the High Sun, Eleasias, our Tav fools, converge in a path that will forever change their lives and the lives of Toril. However, before any lives can be changed, some lives have to cross some paths. Waterdeep, the City of Splendor, the largest city on the Sword Coast and arguably the crowning jewel of the coast, is the host to our scene.
Moments where fate weaves some unlikely stories together: A feral druid, Alvarin, traveling with her very, very good friend, a cleric of the Earth Mother, Sola. A newly fired laborhand dragonborn, Devour, who struggles against a bloodstained mountainous past and tries to make ends meet. An infernal marriage-bound debutante from the Lands of Intrigue, Dotty McClain, and dear cousin, Reginald, are off to make a hole in the wallet of their new money uncle Clive. A caged songbird, finally running to freedom. Another tiefling, a bard, named Mint in disguise while starting her life over again. Or perhaps finally letting it start. And finally, a wandering royal, the hidden princess of the Cormyrian throne, Uná Frenor of Suzail, and her trusty companion and steed, Vaego.
The threads of fate leave them wandering into the infamous tavern, The Yawning Portal, to enjoy the day or forget it. Between musical performances by the Pit and drinking competitions hosted by the wizard mixologist Dorian Steelguard, the scene is stilled by a Troll emerging from the pit. The group is the first to react and send the troll back into the portal, from where it climbed out. Before they could rejoice and assess their success, their victory grabbed the attention of one Volothamp (Volo) Geddarm, who quickly asked to employ them. Volo’s quest: find his friend Floon, an incredibly HANDSOME idiot whom he lost contact with a few days ago after one bar crawl in the next neighborhood south of here. The group conflicted at first to take his quest, but with promises of money, information, and time spent away from a disappointed household. They agree to help Volo, the new group, strangers to each other, begin their first of many adventures together!
Session 5: “A Raid in Greenest Pt.1”
The party stumbles into a scene of a raid on the merchant village. Houses in flames, people bloodied and dead in the streets as cloaked humanoids and kobolds, armed, take to the streets. From one of the homes, Mr. Mann’s wife, Alice Mann, and a local guard with some civilians are cornered by some cloaked cultists and kobolds. Immediately, the party jumps into action and initiates combat, giving the locals some movement to flee. After the success of one combat, the group quickly realizes they are outnumbered, and Greenest is completely overpowered by the raiders. Quick thinking from Devour in his memory, he recognizes the symbols as the Cult of the Dragon. A cult that summons dracoliches as the attackers. The group decides to help civilians and make a break for the garrison in the middle of the village for coverage and safety. As the group makes moves inward, realizing leaving the village is no longer possible, a massive shadow casts over the village entirely, as a glint of a blue dragon circling in the sky. While running to safety, Mint takes a detour to assess the damage for some… assets when she finds a young member of the cult, Jisuel, nervously waiting to attack her. The two barely exchange blows before Mint seduces the cultist into giving some information and making out with some of the spoils of one of the nicer houses being ransacked. She leaves the cult man, enamored by her, as she trails behind her party to safety. With the stakes higher, the group makes it into the stronghold just as the sally port.
Session 6: “Raid in Greenest pt. 2 ft. A child”
Turning to the stronghold, dejected from realizing the raiders have closed most of the escape routes, Nayeli can’t find Nil. Dev takes a moment to promise her they will find her sister. While the rest of the party begins patrolling around the stronghold as the sound of pillaging rages on. Along the stronghold walls, the party finds a man stuck in a tree. As they pull him out, they find a young monk named Nassim. The monk informs the group he is an intern harper, working in secret with his mentor Leosin. Uná’s interest is piqued as that is who Floom informed her used to know her father. Unfortunately for the part, Nassim mentions that his mentor was taken captive by the cult and, along with others, moved out of the village with some of their spoils. As dawn approaches, the group hears the deafening sounds of massive wings flapping, air strong enough to tear down trees and rooftops like a hurricane, as the adult blue dragon lands outside the stronghold. Beside him, a blue dragonborn in armor. Cyanwrath.
