Chin tucked over his knee, tears continued to leak out of the corners of his eyes. Everything hurt, everything hurt so much and he didn’t know what do to. A few days ago, he wouldn’t have thought someone could cry so many tears, but that was before he’d heard that Bianca died. And now?
Now everything was different. Now he was to be made the Crown Prince of the realm after the appropriate mourning ceremonies were to be completed. Nico wasn’t entirely sure how someone could decide to stop mourning, but that was the rule of palace life. He was to receive the formal training needed of the new Crown Prince, the work that Bianca had already spent years doing would now be placed on him. Selfishly, he knew that meant he wouldn’t have as much time to himself, to travel as he pleased, and that hurt too. But mostly, and nearly consuming everything else, his heart-ached at the loss of his sister.
The other’s comforting arm over his shoulder could only do so much, but he appreciated it anyway. It was nice to have someone treat him like a person for the moment rather than a fragile artifact about to break or the new, tragic prince of the realm.
Sighing shakily, he tipped his head forward to press his knees against his eyes, hiding his face a bit more so he might weep in relative privacy even as he didn’t pull away from the other boy.
*thinks about the future (tomorrow, next week, a year from now, any time at all)* *screams in pain* :-)
Perhaps someday you will know my face as an actor, a singer, maybe even an artist or scientist. I just want to leave this post for anyone looking back on my original self. I’m doing this for all of my role-models, I’m not giving up, I’ll do whatever it takes to become something great. To you in I don’t know how many years.
