Ashley leaned back in her chair, frowning at the terminal. She had been staring at the same page for at least ten minutes; she ought to stop wasting her time.
"You find time to record your thoughts, and then you don't have any," she muttered.
Better just start with the basics, then--maybe it would be a good idea to tell everyone just where the Hell she'd been the last few weeks. She began keying some text:
The Alliance found a task for me out on the edge of the Terminus systems--strict no-contact, and I can't really talk about what we were doing. The main reason I mention it is I missed Councillor Anderson's going-away shebang.
Her brows creased. Playing cleanup after Shepard's mission with the Alpha Relay wasn't her idea of fun, but since it bought the Commander some time before a hearing... it might have been worth it. Ashley didn't trust Cerberus or their ties to Shepard, but Shepard did what she'd promised. The Collectors were no longer a threat, and the Reapers had been delayed. It was the least Ashely could do in the name of friendship.
It didn't mean she had to be happy about it.
I really would have liked to have been there, and I wish Admiral Anderson nothing but the best in what's to come. Better to be back in blue, isn't it, sir?
She smiled. Everyone knew Anderson never felt good about all that political bullshit. None of them liked Udina, but he'd be more in his element with the rest of those snakes than the admiral. Gotta play the game.
Ashley shook her head. God help her if she ever ended up in the middle of all that.
She sent the text and re-read it with a nod. Good enough for now; she still had work to do. She rose and stretched, moving to her armor locker.
She really ought to shoot Shepard a message. It had been a while since Horizon, and... Ashley found she owed her. Tomorrow, then.
