Fangirling in the Hiatus: The Rune Scene

So this is my favorite 2B & probably my favorite clace scene so far. So let’s talk about it. It starts off simple enough Clary wants to use their powers to track Jonathan. I love the way they tease each other about their powers. Neither of them have them completely under control. So I think its really fun. I think its one thing that they really can share with anyone else. 

So after Clary draws the rune on her own arm she approaches Jace. The first time I watched I was actually surprised that she just went up to him & lifted his shirt. I mean we all know Jace had space on his arm for that rune. I think this speaks to how far Clary has come in figuring out her feelings. Not too long ago she didn’t even want to be around because she was scared of her own feelings. I love how Jace reacts. He looks at her but doesn’t say anything but you can tell he’s thrown off guard but he doesn’t even fight it. He is ready & willing to do whatever he wants & the minute she in indicates she wants his shirt off he takes it off.

Clary starts to draw the rune on his chest & Jace just watches her. Their is o much tension coming from him as he watches her put her hand on his shoulder. As she finishes he looks away almost to avoid contact. One of my favorite moments in this scene is when she’s finished but she doesn’t move away. He looks down at her hand & then finally makes eye contact with her. Its such a beautiful & tension filled moment for two people who have been shoving down how they really feel. These feeling start to come to the surface as Jace’s rune’s begin to light up.

Jace touches Clary’s face as they move closer to each other. As Clary gets totally lost in the moment it becomes more then about just a physical connection. Its way more intimate then that. Clary & Jace are connected on another level. You can see Jace hesitant for a little bit which makes sense. Jace has always be taught that love made you weak & had up until recently been doing everything he could to push away his feelings for Clary. Now he’s experiencing something so raw & emotional. Its so beautiful to watch him be unsure what to do then completely give in. He holds Clary against his chest & closes his eyes & the both of them look completely at peace.

Honestly I don't even care about those climon scenes. That one clace scene at the end was absolutely electric. The way clary kinda lost her breath after Jace touched her arm & said he wasn't letting her out of his sight was very reminiscent of the way she would lose her breath S1 when Jace touched her face. This is what I have been wanting to see actual chemistry & tension still between them & I feel like I got it here.
