Meet the Authors: Episode 6
Here’s the sixth installment of our “Meet the Authors” series! Check out our Meet The Authors tag if you missed the previous posts.
Episode 6 Author: Dee
This week we’re featuring Dee, who wrote our 6th episode.
Read Episode 6: “No Laughing Matter” here!
Dee is more widely known in the fandom by her blog URL @alwayswritewithcoffee (@DeeAlwaysWrites on Twitter) and grew up in the American South, more specifically the state of Mississippi. She’s a proud graduate of the University of Mississippi, better known as Ole Miss, with degrees in journalism and music. She writes for a living and for fun and considers herself very lucky to work in a career that she loves.
Dee’s first experience with Castle came in the summer of 2013 when she moved into a new apartment where the show was on as background noise while she unpacked. The first episode she ever watched happened to be Always with the high drama and emotional rollercoaster of the last 15 minutes capturing her attention. Even though she had no idea what was going on, she wanted to know more and the TNT marathon rolled over to the pilot episode Flowers For Your Grave. By the time Beckett threw Castle into the interrogation room, she was a fan and quickly purchased the DVDs to catch up on the show and began watching live for the season six premiere. She began blogging about Castle that same month and writing fanfiction in November 2013.
Inside the fandom, Dee is known more for her opinions, her sarcasm (and bitchiness, if she’s honest), and how the tv industry works than her fanfiction, but she has written nine multi-chapters and countless one-shots and is currently working on finishing her two in progress multi-chapters as well as a third idea set in season four called “Love on The Brain”.
Dee’s inspiration for “No Laughing Matter” came after weeks of working on an entirely different premise based on the movie (and board game) Clue. The episode's change in story was inspired by a news article about creepy clowns terrorizing citizens in a small town in South Carolina. She wrote the entire episode in less than a week, and really enjoyed playing up the creepiness factor as well as Esposito’s fear of clowns.

Thanks for reading! Tune in next week to meet Kylie, the author of episode 7.
