Name: Alyssa Zaidelle
Age: 27
Weapon of Choice: Gun – Procyon (Final Fantasy XIII)
Primary Role: Saboteur; Inhibitor
Secondary Role: Ravager (Flamestrike, Aquastrike, Sparkstrike, Galestrike)
Personality: Curious and persistent, Alyssa is a rather headstrong individual with a desire for knowledge. Sometimes she can come off as brash or stubborn, but Alyssa really is a friendly and outgoing sort of person. The sort of person who’d go out of her way to help out a friend, she makes bonds rather easily with those that she shares a mutual understanding and common goal with. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself, and she’s not afraid to speak what’s on her mind. She considers herself a strong sort of girl, and doesn’t take well to the idea of sitting around and letting others take care of her.
All things considered, however, Alyssa doesn’t mind spinning a tale to get what she wants. If she thinks it will be a means to an attractive end, she’ll fabricate whatever she feels she needs to, and maybe then some. She’s usually able to deflect most of the social repercussions of her deception by either not getting caught or using the bubbly part of her personality to convince the person to forgive or forget. When it comes to her work, though, Alyssa will rarely, if ever, tell a lie. She does take her work very seriously and doesn’t much care to jeopardize her chance to utilize the facilities of the army for further research.
Background: Alyssa grew up in a small village just outside Oerba. As a child, her town was violently raided and as she and her friend took shelter inside a shoddily built barn, the hostilities moved toward their hiding spot and collapsed the barn on top of them, killing her best friend and leaving her heavily injured. Post-raid, her father moved the family from the village and Alyssa began traveling with her father. It was during this time that she learned to lie. Alyssa could be someone new, completely different. No longer did she have to be the girl who was victim to a terrible monster attack, the girl who lost her friend needlessly. She could be anyone she wanted and no one would feel sorry for her.
It was through her travels that she developed a love for research. Everywhere she went, she learned something new, and everyone she met could teach her something different. After several years of moving around, her father grew tired of the life they led, but Alyssa was just getting started. She parted ways with her parents and went after her goals, heading on her way toward Oerba and the Army of Taejin to secure a place in their research facilities, hoping to do her part for those suffering from attacks like she had when she was a child.
Writing Sample: Alyssa huddled her jacket tighter and went for a double-check on the pistol in her holster. She didn’t have much in the way of weaponry, but to get her over to Oerba, it would have to be enough. The shoddy gun she’d had since practically forever would have to last long enough before finally breaking down for good. They’d been in several sticky situations, her dad and herself, in which Alyssa was almost monster toast because the damn thing stuck and wouldn’t fire. She kept her fingers crossed for her solo journey this time around.
Up until now, Alyssa had always depended on her father, had always taken up the rear and had his back while he kept her safe at point, but it was time that she stood on her own two feet for once. She was a grown ass adult now and she should have gone on her way a long time ago as far as she was concerned. Still, she was such a daddy’s girl, and it was hard to argue that the two didn’t make a damn good team when it came down to it. It may have been seen as reckless, a father toting around his daughter, especially when they first set out on their journey, possibly allowing his emotions to mar his judgement, but Alyssa proved quite a capable shot, and she wasn’t afraid to tell anyone off who gave them lip about it.
She could see Taejin’s Tower slowly growing larger and clearer in the distance. This was it, this was what she’d been dreaming of for so long now. If only for a moment, Alyssa wanted the chance to be part of something great, have access to the most advanced technology on the planet, maybe prevent a young girl from losing her best friend… The fuzzy outline of the tower only fueled her hunger and she hastened her pace, practically jogging as she drew closer. She wouldn’t rest, wouldn’t stop until she was there. It was only a matter of how fast her legs could carry her now.
