Name: Leylani (Leila) Rosario
Weapon of Choice: Dancing Dagger
Primary Role: Synergist, Augmenter
Secondary Role: Ravager (Fire, Aero, Sparkstrike)
Personality: Upon meeting her, Leila can be a headstrong, loud, outgoing, carefree spirit with a tendency for being a slight flirt. She wears revealing outfits, carries her dagger everywhere, and speaks her mind whether the people listening want it or not. However, beneath her brash exterior hides a passion and a loyalty that would allow her to put her life on the line if she felt you deserved it. Despite her fiery nature, she can easily evaluate any situation and plan the best course of action while keeping cool and calm as the situation calls for it. She’s a team player at heart, but there are times she can be a slight showoff when on the field.
Background: Leila was born as Leylani Rosario, the only daughter of a couple within nobility. She was known for her curious nature and her bubbly personality, always asking questions and making friends with whoever she ran across. Unfortunately, her father was trying to usurp power from the local royalty in secret, an act which lead him into several dangerous partnerships. One partnership, upon feeling betrayed, proceeded to set fire to Leila’s home in the dead of night, killing her parents and many of the servants and forcing Leila to fend for herself at eleven years old in the nearest town after climbing out a window and hiding in some bushes for the night.
Many of the citizens took pity on Leila and gave her food and shelter when they could, but it was never enough. One day, Leila was looking for food among the docks when she saw crates of fruit and began helping herself. Before long, she fell asleep next to the crates, and when she next awoke, she found herself on a pirate ship, the Jade. Upon discovery, the crew nearly threw her overboard, but the captain decided to make her pay for the food she stole from them and put her to work scrubbing the ship and other various jobs.
As time went on, the captain became fond of her and decided to teach her the ways of pirating. Leila felt no need in making herself a male persona since the crew knew her gender, but she changed her name to Leila as she learned about ships and pirating. Not many of the men respected her at first, but she soon proved to outclass them in many things, from combat to navigation to ship maintenance, and the captain quickly made her his first mate.
Tragedy befell the Jade upon its final voyage near Oerba. It was to be a simple restocking, but as they neared the designated port nearby the city, monsters rushed aboard and claimed the ship and the crew, including their captain. Leila was on land, talking to their supplier, when this happened, so when she saw what the monsters had done, she swore vengeance for the crew of the Jade, walked into Oerba, and looked for any ways she could help slaughter those that took her latest family away.
"Are ye sure ye know if this supply will last?"
The supplier raised his head to look the female pirate in her bright blue eyes for a second before lowering his gaze to the dagger she had pulled out. Leila was intimidating when she wanted to be, a trait most people would never associate with females, pirate or otherwise. No one could have guessed the young lady with sky blue hair and matching eyes would become a fearsome pirate, let alone as a woman. She knew it, too, and made it all the more painful for everyone by wearing revealing, feminine clothing in shades of purple and pink and using her charms to her advantage. Still, she knew her gender made no difference when her life was on the line, and her dagger was always quicker than most men’s swords.
"Of course, ma’am," the supplier said quickly, knowing he was right, but still nervous under Leila’s harsh stare and with her dagger pointing in his direction. “It should be a good few months before you’d need to look for food again."
Smirking, the young woman twirled her dagger before sheathing it and leaning against his desk, her arms folded beneath her chest to accentuate her breasts as a tease. When she knew she had the man’s attention, she coyly slipped her fingers under his chin and turned his head up to meet her amused gaze. With a playful sparkle in her eyes, she chuckled teasingly at the look on his face, a look which stated he was turned onto her new approach.
"Good lad," she replied saucily. “Now, ye wouldn’t mind if we took yer stash fer less than promised, eh? Ye wouldn’t want a lass like me to starve, would ye?"
The man shook his head, under the trance she charmed him into. With another happy chuckle, she kissed him softly on the lips before patting his head like one would a child. She then stood up and tossed the sack of money he deserved onto the desk, less gil filling it than what had been agreed on. With a flip of her cerulean hair, she exited the room with one last thought.
"T’was a pleasure doin’ business with ye, lad. I hope we get more chances to meet. Yer easy to fool."
