The Log of Commander Skyskip-Bayaqud.
Purpose of this Log: Realization that as documentations of our current missions would be vital for the understanding of voidsent for our later generations.
“Mission Log zero zero two. I had my reservations of starting you at two, but ultimately I wanted the first mission struck from record. Seeing as I controlled the record I deemed it adequate to say that a log from mission zero zero one was never filed, and never will be. The events of such a time do not need to be passed down to my children or the scholars I entrust this to.
Mission zero zero two was in response to a disturbance coming from Hopeseed Pond, and at first I just assumed that Haukke Manor was having another burst of mild voidal activity. (Mild voidal activity recorded as Low tier Ahriman and Succubus).
I myself was not able to attend this mission due to... ailment, so this log will be from the record of Roka Gunshiken ( @roka-gunshiken) my trusted friend and commander.
He had pulled together a team consisting of Fafai Fai ( @fafai-fai ), her fiance and dear adviser Yayaha Yaha ( @ask-yayaha ), E’mirrin Stig ( @winevoice ), her partner Hard Rock, and Alyssithe Thynelle ( @menphinascrow).
Accord to his record the mission ultimately ended up a Success, but the mission could have had less hitches within the matter. It appears that when they arrived to Hopeseed Pond a bit of a walk wound up with the ground beneath the feet of Hard Rock opening up and sucking them deep underground to a dungeon that was quite possibly created at the end of the Third Umbral Era.
The dungeon was filled with traps, and riddles to keep the traps from going off. While it appeared that they had no issues answering the riddles and problem solving, the roegadyn Hard Rock managed to find a way to set near every trap off. This event lead to much frustration within the group, and success felt far away.
Roka and Fafai Fai altered me that the final chamber contained Halicarnassus, a higher tiered succubus likely third or second tier. Not an easy fight by any means, but I was relieved to heard that my team came out mostly unscathed.
We’re beginning to understand that some voidsent posses a good deal of intellect to match and outsmart unsuspecting folk of Hydaelyn. If this trapped riddled dungeon was anything to go by, the voidsent are catching on that we are attempting to close portals between their realm and our own and are either setting traps for us or picking areas that would stall us in reaching their portal.
This is an alarming fact, and incredibly worrying. If they are adapting to our situation we must begin to adapt to them, be prepared for puzzles and riddles that may slow us down and learn the tongue of which they’d write it. I was alerted that had miss Yayaha Yaha not been there one of the riddles would have been nigh impossible to complete. Miraculously she is gifted with the blessing of the echo allowing her to comprehend languages enough to get them through the final room.
My crew must learn the tongue. We will be ready for the next portal opening, and next time I will be going along to assure their safety and to assure the record of voidsent is as pristine as we can make it.
Signing off, Narani Skyskip-Bayaqud
