~ AFTER THE BENCH SCENE ~

(Cyrus and TJ approach Buffy and Andi. The boys are walking hand in hand and grinning from ear to ear. The girls take notice.)

BUFFY: Are you two...?

(Cyrus looks at TJ)

TJ: Yeah. We are.

ANDI: And a public handhold. So people... can know about this?

(Cyrus looks at TJ)

TJ: I guess the people at this party know.

BUFFY: Cyrus. Are you ready for that?

CYRUS: With TJ by my side. I’m ready for anything. (beat) What about you, TJ? Have you ever even told anyone before?

TJ: No. But I chose the right person to tell. And now I have something worth sharing.

(Everyone gushes at this. After a moment, Jonah approaches)

JONAH: Hey guys, what’s up?

CYRUS (immediately): TJ-AND-I-ARE-BOYFRIENDS!

(Jonah is confused)

JONAH: And my name is Jonah Beck...

(Everyone else looks confused)

JONAH (cont.): Haven’t you guys been dating for a while now?

(Andi and Buffy laugh at this. Cyrus blushes, embarrassed. TJ puts his arm around him. Jonah is still confused.)

TJ: Do you guys dare me to go ask Cyrus out?

Jonah: nope.

TJ, making his way toward Cyrus: Ok, here I go!! Why are you guys making me do this?!

Jonah, Andi, and Buffy, at the same time: WE’RE NOT!!

TJ, writing his number down on Cyrus’s arm: you guys are such jerks!

me, an intellectual: TJ CHOSE to become a better person, for Cyrus. it was TJ who CHOSE to tell the police about the gun, to make Cyrus happy. TJ CHOSE to apologised to Buffy, so Cyrus’ life could run easier and smoother. TJ CHOSE AND WANTS to be a better person, so he can be good enough for Cyrus.
