Inzwischen höre ich neben “Like A Prayer” und “Don’t Tell Me” auch…

Sitting in my blanket fort, waiting to record. The life of an amateur voice actor.
themightyif said: Aw, that’s so cool! :D THank you for sharing! You're welcome. I know it's not perfect. But I definitely think I've come a long way. I seem to have mostly shaken the weird British accent I developed after some not great teaching (and self-teaching). My pitch issues are MUCH better (though still not perfect) after lots of work on technique, but probably most importantly when I listen to myself I hear a singer with a nice voice with moments of greatness alongside the moments of not-so-greatness. So now it's all about working on consistency. I'm getting there.
Here is a recording of me singing that I don't totally hate, in case you would enjoy such a thing.
I already tweeted about this but I wanted to expand on it here. Opened up the product of five hours in front of the piano & laptop yesterday only to realise that there was nothing salvageable due to my complete inability to keep time with a metronome for more than eight bars. Admittedly some of the accompaniment I'm writing has fiddly timing but the left hand is pretty straight and the chorus is chords on the beat but they... weren't. Rather than fiddle around with cutting and pasting and recording snippets I decided to start from scratch and it's going better. I also figured out how to use the score function in Garage Band better so I can include pedal markers when my laptop is too slow to catch it and I have to go back. I also focussed on the timing and its better. I mean, yesterday wasn't a complete waste. I figured out the right hand for the verse, which up to now had just been the melody. I also figured out more about how to use the program, so that's something. I've got the first two verses and choruses down in the left hand - just the bridge and a few bits and pieces and that's done - I can move onto the right hand. Then I just need to iron out the lyrics and wait for my vocal mic to arrive. I was saying to erinkyan - I'm quietly chuffed at how well it's going. I wrote this piece like 8 years ago so to get it down feels good. Plus, I feel like the recording is doing myself justice, which doesn't always happen in performance. I'm looking forward to sharing it with you guys when it's done!
my voice is such a dookie god dang
