Sitting by the riverbank, Willow reached out to touch a nearby tree trunk. A storm had bent the tree over the water, and a bolt of lightning sent it crashing into the river. That was the night before; from the touch Willow could feel its pain. Focusing her energy, she pulled what life remained in the stump outwards, drawing out a few tiny stems bearing leaves. She sat back satisfied, then jumped up, hearing footsteps behind her.
