What’s Best For Her || CLOSED
“Sophie!” He grabbed the young girl before a bus hit her. “Stay close ta me, you’re gonna get yourself killed if ya wander off.” He looked begrudgingly around the busy city and wished fro the sounds to just shut up. All the noise, it made him go nuts. It was too much. He must have looked a bit angry because his daughter pulled on his hand.
“School’s this way, dum dum.” she smirked as she led him off. They slowly traveled to the school. It had been over 10 years since he had set foot anywhere near it. And he wasn’t prepared to go back, but it was hard to say no to his little devil. He looked at her as she was reading a map and mumbled to herself on where to go. He had insisted they just warp there with the magic they had left. But she wanted to walk, like a normal person. That kinda hurt. She always wanted to do things the normal way. He wasn’t sure how to handle that. He was use to his boys blowing up his bed for fun, or dropping a raccoon on him in the shower. THAT was normal to him. But...walk around New York with a map? Hide your mutant powers? He didn’t like that. He had learned to accept his powers pretty damn fast. Sophie? Not so much. She was having trouble. And that’s exactly why they were going to the school.
When they reached the front gates he stopped, frozen to the spot. She almost fell back, considering she was holding his hand and was yanked back.
“Da?” She frowned. “You ok?”
“16 years.” He spoke softly staring at the school. He saw children running around on the grounds and all of them had their mutations out, loud and proud. He swallowed as she noticed his nervous behavior.
“Da? You ain’t still nervous about the professor, right?” Sophie frowned.
“What?” He looked at her, frowning, his brow furrowing.
“Mom said the only mutant you were ever scared of was Xavier.”
“I--what?--No--that’s ridiculous....no. I’m not. Never was. Let’s go.” His pupils that looked like lizard slits, thinned up a bit as he spoke, avoiding eye contact with her, he took her hand again and quickly headed to the front door, his gut screaming at him to turn back.
