The d20 is coming
Thalius: Also I need the moral support to decide whether or not to buy that stupid [Jon Snow] action figure.
Kilosophy: roll a d20. what's Jon Snow's DC
Thalius: Depends on what I'm rolling against? His AC is probably actually quite low. If he's only wearing leather, I imagine it's somewhere in the 15-16 range.
Kilosophy: roll a D20 vs his AC, if you get higher buy him
no modiferrs
Thalius: That gives me a less than 25% chance to get him. Which I suppose is fair, because he is a want and not a need.
Aaaand I got a 1
I can never buy him, ever.
Kilosophy: LOL
Amaker: The dice have chosen.
NEW: "Transported" by Android Amaker Full disclosure: This blog is consistently pro-Amaker, so it is no surprise that the upcoming Android Amaker project is leading to quizzical excitement. Amaker's the leader of the Johnny-Cash-meets-Devo Brent Amaker and the Rodeo (search this blog and you'll find plenty of entries), but his latest project comes without any pairs of sawdust-covered boots. This concept album intends to tell the story of a world with no sun but plenty of integrated artificial intelligence. Alien overlords uploaded Amaker's consciousness into a mechanical body and now he's throwing back space whiskey, imbibing in galaxy tobacco and playing his role as "The One, King of the Outer Galaxy." Not exactly sure what all that means? Me neither. But this - the second track to be revealed from the Oct. 21 album - keeps the intrigue cruising through my own mind-stars. The vinyl release will be available for pre-order next week. For now, you can pre-order the album on iTunes. More data needed. Bring on Android Amaker. CAN'T WAIT TO GIVE YOU MORE. Pass it on. ANDROID AMAKER is the ONE. ANDROID AMAKER is a conceptual electronic project conceived and created by Brent Amaker, VOX MOD, and P Smoov. Soon after the inception of integrated A.I. and the Explosion of the Sun, Amaker's survival hinged upon a retreat to the far reaches of space and the melding of man and machine. Decades of being on the run, brawls with space bandits, and encounters with alien overlords in the Final Frontier forced Amaker to forsake his Earthly body and upload his consciousness into a mechanical humanoid. Amaker now finds himself in remote dives on distilled moons, riddled with massive mining structures, unrecognizable as the man who once lived in a damp, green corner of the solar system. His memories of that place have long since corrupted and disintegrated from his operating systems. Amaker no longer considers himself an Earth man. Countless extraterrestrial whiskeys, Thylaxian tobaccos, and other foreign contraband have all but eroded whatever humanity he had left. Yet, his voice rings true. His original vocal cords still reverberate throughout his bionic body, emanating electromagnetic waves in a flange-tinged echo. A hypersonic pulse that startles even the most terrifying Trorgian Wolf Clans.

I can't wait for the Holidays. In general, I'm impatient. I CAN'T WAIT on SoundCloud here:
It was a few months after the last Brent Amaker and the Rodeo tour (Europe 2011), that I found myself up late one night. I was no longer on "tour time". I was firmly entrenched in the world of the day walkers. But me & the Mrs. had guests visiting. In the spirit of being good hosts we found ourselves back in that old familiar routine; An all night marathon of music, drinks, and good conversation. I was rummaging through my collection of 1980s' new wave records when it happened. I skipped past The Cars and found a Ric Ocasek solo LP from 1983. I'm not sure why I pulled it out of the pile, but I did. I couldn't remember anything about this record. I put it on the platter and about two-thirds of the way through the first side, I stumbled onto something amazing. It was amazing for me, anyhow. I couldn't stop listening. I got up from the couch at least 10 times to move the needle and repeat the song. Eventually I was singing it under my breath because I couldn't get it out of my head. It gets blurry after that, but in that instant, somewhere around 4AM, I listened. Nothing I had previously heard on this record seemed even slightly remarkable. But suddenly, I heard magic. I believe that this was one of those unique moments in space and time. I was meant to see and hear the beauty in this song. I fell asleep with this thought in my head. The next afternoon the record was still spinning with the needle skipping. A piece of paper was lying on the floor next to the turntable. On the paper was a hand written note. It was written by me. The note said "Brent Amaker and the Rodeo must record I CAN'T WAIT by Ric Ocasek". Who am I to argue with my late night drunk self? Immediately that week I scheduled time in the studio with The Rodeo. Our new bass player, Johnny Nails, engineered the track. This song won't be on our new record (Year of the Dragon - Fall 2012). It only exists because I told myself to make it so. Nevertheless, Spark and Shine wants to release "I Can't Wait" as a digital single. So here it is. It doesn't require much effort to understand it. I hope it finds it's way to Mr. Ocasek one day. That would sweet.

This song is from the first self titled Brent Amaker and the Rodeo LP. We don't play it live, but I've always liked this song. Maybe some day we will add it to our set. Here it is for free. Enjoy. Brent
