In addition to my crochet and knitting, I also spin (I have my own wheel) and weave (a bit). I do paperwork (which is an art unto itself) and do woodworking (which can range from beds to chests to complicated angled book mounts). I also specialize in taking charge and being apathetic (in turns).
Note: You may have noticed that I have been referring to it as “threadwork” in my tags all month, even though the prompts usual ask about “crafts.” As a feminist, a historian, and someone who works with thread, I find it interesting how traditionally feminine tasks are classified as “crafts” or “handicrafts,” while traditionally masculine tasks are “art” or “work.” As such, I do not support calling activities such as spinning, weaving, knitting, crocheting, lacemaking, or tatting “crafts,” though I do support people who choose to engage in such activities. Though I’m sure there are numerous ways to refer to such actions, I have chosen in my personal and professional lives to refer to them as “threadwork.” This has been a PSA.
