For the photo shoot, I created a piece of jewelry to go with my outfits. It is made out of ostrich leather and plastic thread (and took forever, obviously..).

I wanted it to evoke the same feeling in me as the many intriguing pictures I found of albino eyelashes. You be the judge!

One of the things about albinism that inspired me when I created my collection is how some albinos are not entirely without pigment, but have "spots" of the colour their skin could have been. (I later learned that this is called leucism, and is an different condition altogether, but nevertheless, it inspired me.) 

I chose to interpret this through burn out technique to emphasize how pigment is missing, although I had the spots lack something instead of the other way around. 

Firstly, I found a few photos of people with this condition and traced the spots unto paper. I then reported them, asymmetrically, unto the pattern of a jacket I designed for the collection. Then I scanned it all, printed it out, arranged it on 3 screen print frames, printed it onto the fabric (a cotton/polyester burn out textile), dried, heated and washed it, waxed it for finish, cut out the pattern pieces, sewed it all together and volià! A jacket was born.

Looking back, it was a bit of a hassle.. But worth it, since it is my favourite piece from the collection. This is also my favourite photo from the shoot.
