sam's daughter amara btw
It’s all fun and games till the veilguard members find out that Sam is:
- in his early 50s
- used to live in Highever with his guardsman husband Adam and their daughter Amara, until his husband died during the Howe’s attack and he and his daughter narrowly escaped with their lives.
- spent the entirety of the Fifth Blight living rough in Denerim, where he took to thieving to support himself and Amara
- managed to get hired on as a servant in the palace, got caught trying to steal jewelry from Queen Anora (wanted to ensure Amara could get a good education and could not do that on a servants salary alone, plus the Blight had just ended so everything was a bit of a fucking mess in the palace)
- would have had a hand cut off for the crime had Prince-Consort Jon not stepped in and been like. Nah. I remember you from Highever. Let’s talk.
- got told by Jon, “hey, we gotta rebuild the wardens. Join up, keep your hand, and I’ll ensure that your daughter gets a good education.”
- and thus Sam joined the Wardens 20 years ago, right after the Fifth Blight ended (was present for the events of the Awakening DLC for DAO)
- was personally trained as a warden by Jon Cousland and Ned Surana, which is a heavy reason as to why he’s Like That™️ (batshit insane)
- transed his gender while serving with the Wardens in Amaranthine
- only went to Weisshaupt after the events of Inquisition, because when Jon and Ned heard about the shit that happened at Adamant Fortress they realized they needed someone to keep an eye on things in the Anderfels for them
- just found out that his daughter has joined the Lords of Fortune and is having a minor crisis about it (he’ll get over himself, he’s just having an overprotective dad moment)
ooooo I could do a vg playthru as Sam’s daughter Amara bc she’d be in her late 20s. Jon recruited Sam into the wardens around 20 years prior to vg, Amara would’ve been around 7-10ish
