a fortunate happenstance
It was funny, how life worked some times. Whether it was fate, destiny, or some long, long chain reaction, something had brought him here, to this cafe at 8:02 AM, merely 13 minutes before his orientation at the Academy. He tapped his foot, staring nervously at his watch. He wasn’t angry at the barista, though. It was early in the morning, and it took time to make a good cuppa’ joe.
He reached for his Americano and slipped a sleeve on it, when he heard a vaugely familiar laugh. The peals of joyful laughter came from the ordering counter, where a small, feline-esque girl smiled up at-
“A-Amaranth?”
