(( GUESS WHOS BACK
How the tables turn. Jun stepped closer to the demon, letting his eyes stray from his face to down his suspenders. He felt his nervousness start to build up to something–something that very much enjoyed being in charge. Grinning, he put a hand on Daniel’s shoulder, knowing full well he was pushing him slightly against the wall.
“My mind isn’t the only thing interested in wandering,” he murmured, dragging his fingers slowly down Daniel’s forearm. “You really bend easily, don’t you, demon?”
Daniel sucked in a sharp breath as he was pushed against the wall and tried not pay too much attention to how close Jun was to him. Or to where his hands might "wander". The demon took in a slow, shaky breath of air before responding.
"If by bend you mean my will then I'll have you know that typically it is a brink wall." He spoke quickly, keeping his mouth moving faster than he'd let his mind decend into... Filthier areas. "But if you mean my body... Then yes I do, and I certainly wouldn't mind doing so for you." Daniel finished his sentence with a wicked grin. Hell would freeze over before he went down without a fight, so to speak.
(( okay! I want to start off with an apology for inactivity. I have a thousand excuses but I don’t want this post to be huge.
Now, onto what this is really about. On top of the tarot cards I’ve decided to make a lyricstuck type thing for Mamono to the song “Angels Are Weeping” by Nox Arcana.
How I’d like this to work is anyone who wants to join gives the song a listen and chooses a set of lyrics they think fits their character best, (seeing as you guys will know them much better than I will) and sends them in through an ask to Daniel or Joseph’s blog! Make sure to specify which character for those who have side blogs. Also this is a really long song so use as many of your characters as you want. I’ll pick and choose which ones get in due to lyric availability if I have to, so get out there and pick your lyrics my pals 8) ))
Nikki sat out on the dock, a blanket wrapped around her shoulders and feet dangling over the edge. It had been one of those nights where she neither could not sleep, not did she want to sleep. Her arm was still wrapped up in its sling, though she could probably take it off in a few days. Absently, she reached for her necklace before remembering that it hadn’t been on her when Isa found her.
Nicolette sighed, drawing one knee up to her chest and resting her chin on it. The faint memory of a song tickled the back of her mind, dredging up long forgotten emotions. She remembered being rocked to sleep in a large pair of arms before being laid in a cot. A gruff voice, her father’s voice, sang to her in Gaelic.
She half remembered the lyrics. Some nights he’d still come by her cot and sing to her when he thought she was asleep. With a sigh, Nikki laid back on the wooden slats of the dock. There was no way she was gonna sleep tonight if she was thinking about home. So broken Gaelic filled the otherwise quiet night air as she recounted things about home. She was so glad most people were asleep right now.
Daniel had no idea what he was doing out so late. He knew there wouldn't be many people out looking for deals, and he had already punished the ones who had tried to avoid paying him back, so he had no reason to be out and about. Or at least, he didn't in the beginning. As he was walking past the docks he heard someone singing, and it had definitely piqued the demon's curiosity. It didn't take him very long to locate the source of the singing, and he was a little surprised at who he saw.
"Ah... The disbeliever," he whispered before walking up Nicolette as quietly as he could. He recognized the language, but didn't understand it. Hearing it in song made him wish he would've learned it instead of Gaulish. "You have a lovely voice." Daniel said as she came to a pause in her song. Or maybe it was the end? He didn't know for sure, but he took the chance to compliment regardless.
heavenly attraction
Theo laughed, the sound deep and nearly musical. “I am just kidding. I’m from the church myself.” An understatement, of course, but easy enough to explain things that way.
“My apologies. Italian. I tend towards nicknames, and I am from Vatican City. My first language wiggles its way into a fair amount of my speech.“ He, of course, could speak and understand any language, as is the messenger’s skill, as well as the language of the Angels. Italian was just the one he used most, and in his opinion, had the nicest accent for him. "It means ‘small father.’ A decent nickname for a not-yet-priest, hm?” The angel smiled, taking another sip of his tea.
“I think 'sun’ may be an overstatement, but no. You are free to stay, don’t let me come along and ruin your morning.” The man in front of him, Joseph, seemed so intimidated. Whoopsies. “Call me Theo. I do hope you won’t mind if I stick around. We can share the table, perhaps?”
In all honesty, Joseph hadn’t been paying much attention to what Theo was saying. Of course he heard, but was quickly distracted and couldn’t focus on one thing Theo said for long. He was too caught up in his captivating laugh and how he was just so flawlessly attractive. Thankfully he snapped back into reality right before the stranger introduced himself. “Oh no. No not at all. I’d uh... Be more than glad to have to stay and share the table.” Joseph quickly lifted his drink to his lips to hide his nervous expression.
“Oh uh... I’m Joseph, by the way.” Joseph said when he finally set his drink back on the table. He still felt nervous, but the pause definitely calmed him some. “And... Don’t worry about ruining my morning or anything like that.” He grinned a little, trying to play false confident. “Any morning where I run into you would be anything but ruined.” Joseph took a moment to thank God for making him sit where he did.

14: “You know, you’re gonna hurt yourself doing that.”
Isa had been walking through the park with coffee in hand when she spotted the demon sitting on a bench. Quietly, she watched him from a distance. In all odds, he could probably sense her presence yet he didn’t budge. The amount of focus he was using was more than concerning… but what in hot hell was he concentrating on? She glanced around and found nothing in sight. Maybe he was just caught up in bad memories or communicating with another demon telepathically. ‘Could they do that?’ she wondered. ‘Most likely.’ A few minutes had passed and his face looked strained but he was not moving even slightly. “You know, you’re gonna hurt yourself doing that,” she paused, making sure not to startle him. “Burst a blood vessel… or whatever it is you’ve got.”
((For Joseph))
12: “Don’t you dare throw up on me.”
Night shift always brought in a handful of… ‘unique’ characters. People who were wandering about the woods in the dark and “got attacked by dogs”, sword swallowers, kids who “swear they saw the dead rising”, one guy with a fish hook embedded in his thumb… but she never could’ve imagined this.
A preacher who got food poisoning from a loaf of stale communion bread. How do you not notice something weeks old and beginning to mold? When he entered the E.R., he was doubled over with stomach cramps, sweating, and had a complexion of a cucumber. “Sir, before I treat you, I need some information okay? Can you give me your name?” He nodded and was about to speak when his cheeks puffed out. She pushed a disposable barf bag into his hands and patted his back from a distance. “Don’t you dare throw up on me.”
“So you’re telling me that you’re trying to cause an aneurysm? It doesn’t look like that’s what you intended on doing,” she replied softly, taking a small sip of her drink. “To me, it looks a lot like you’re struggling with something.” She carefully inched forward, wary of him even after hearing about the wrath that would fall upon him if he caused any harm. Old harbored superstitions had a weird way of coloring her view of things.
“You alright over here? I know we haven’t chatted much and I might not be a psychologist or a demonologist.. but I’m registered and i’ve got a decent set of ears to listen with. I mean, if you even want to talk about it.” She stood, awkwardly, out of arms reach just in case he wasn’t in the best head space and leaned toward violent tendencies. Her demeanor was calm but her face wrinkled with genuine concern.
“I’m not trying to.” Daniel grumbled in frustration, digging the heel of his sneakers into the dirt and kicking to tear up the grass. Hepaused for a moment, sighing deeply to ease his irritation before looking up at Isa. It wasn’t her he was frustrated with. Just his situation in general. “I’m definitely struggling,” He said in the same tone of voice, although looking more tired than mad, but he was thankful he had someone to talk to. Someone who wasn’t part of the problem anyway.
“I’m not even sure if I’m alright. All I know is that I hate being human, I hate pretending for all of these imbeciles who want me to act humane. Do you know how ridiculous that is? How annoying and ridiculous that is?” The demon’s tone darkened a bit as his accent switched from Spanish to something ancient. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply.
“Sorry for rambling. The issue at work is simply... Ama and Eric and all the little things they want of me. Ama tends to forget what I am, and keeps trying to make me do the ‘right thing’ while making it very difficult to stay faithful to my boyfriend. Then Eric just... Doesn’t listen when I speak to him, doesn’t listen to what I want and blows everything out of proportion. Then there’s the issue with them... conflicting with each other over me.” The demon gestured wildly as he told Isa what was going on. "And to top all of that off I have worry constantly about doing what I want and need to do because almost all of that is something that would make both of them hate me and I can't lose them both."
“Oh!” Eli carefully let go and wrapped the leash around his wrist before letting Olive go completely, chucking when she landed on his arm. “You’ve got a nice face too, y’know.”
It then registered in his mind that he’d just said that. Eli’s face flushed red and he couldn’t bring himself to look at Joseph now. Oh god this was embarrassing.
Joseph paused from putting the harness back on his bird to stare at the stranger with wide eyes. It didn’t take long for his face to match the colour of the other’s. This guy was a stranger, but he was already calling Joseph attractive! Not that he was complaining. He found the other across from him to be rather attractive as well.
“Uh...,” Joseph started finally, “Thanks. You do too.” He said quietly, immediately returning to looping the other side of the harness over Remiel’s wing.
“Sensitive?” In all honesty, Millicent had a lot of words to choose from when it came to them. He didn’t have anything against them really, they could just be so picky easily bothered at times. He couldn’t help but grin as the other spoke, sharp teeth sticking out a little as the demon chuckled under his breath at the others words. “I didn’t think I’d see another demon for a long time.” It was nice to know that there was another demon on the island, even though Millicent didn’t doubt the possibility of there being others too. “It’s not often they come through the island! How long have you been here, anyways?”
Daniel’s eyes widened and he nodded, letting out an exasperated sigh. “Very sensitive. God... They’re all trying to appeal to my better nature and get me to do things the ‘human’ way.” The demon’s nose wrinkled, saying the word human as if it were something long dead and rotting that he’d rather not have in his mouth. A look of anger clouded over his expression for a moment before he pushed it away, shifting back to look more friendly.
“Neither did I,” Daniel said with a large grin. “I haven’t been here long. I came up out of hell about four or five months ago to act as a stationary. At least until I get more into the third tier and gain my summoning sigil.” He looked proud as spoke of gaining his sigil. “Uh... Sorry for the time inaccuracy. The human concept of time has always... baffled me.”
“Ah,” he hummed, expression going a bit distant as the demon wrapped up the garment. Well, he certainly was right. But he’d made the deal and got the results, so whats done was done. It was just an article of clothing from a school he hadn’t even attended for a full 3 months.
Elek shrugged and looked back up at Daniel, a faint smile on his lips. “Don’t mention it, and sure thing,” he slapped their palms together and gripped his wrist, pulling him in for a half hug and giving his back a few good slaps. “Thanks man,” he said as he pulled away.
Daniel noticed the change in expression and was about to offer an alternative or a promise to find a way to keep the energy from the deal without taking the object but his train of thought was interrupted. He stumbled forwards, clearly shocked and unsure of what to due.
“Uh... You’re welcome.” Daniel shook his head to rid himself of the confusion, his shocked expression being replaced by a grin. “Oh, and... I’ve been looking into other forms of demonic trade and energy gain, so I’ll look for a way to take energy without taking the object. If you’d like, I mean.” Daniel rubbed his hands awkwardly on his jeans, still very unaccustomed with helping people.

((Foot kiss omg))
Daniel frowned at Ama. He had managed to upset her again and this time his apology wasn’t getting through as easy as they had before. The demon had tried all of his verbal pleadings, leaving him with one last option. However old and and unused it was.
The demon knelt down in front of Ama, giving her an earnest look before he picked up her foot. He placed a kiss to the bottom of it, giving her the most sincere look he possible could.
“I’m sorry, Ama. I honestly am.”
Ama grumbled unintelligibly at first in place of an answer. After letting the garbled nonsense hang in the air for a moment, she sighed and decided to let him in on her general plan for the evening. “Call or text Eric and let him know you’re not coming home tonight. We’re having an impromptu sleepover.”
That said, how would she get him to understand the damage he had wrought? She wasn’t capable of streaming memories between people, so that was out of the question. Just explaining it wouldn’t be satisfactory. She needed to find an example…something that would appeal to his newfound emotions. Maybe a movie? That way she wouldn’t have to stare angrily at him the whole night.
Daniel huffed, but nodded. Eric had been hoping to spend more time with him recently, so he knew he would be disappointed, but he also knew that it was better if he did as Ama said and apologized later. He pulled out his phone and sent the message. ‘I’ll be staying the night at Ama’s. Don’t worry I won’t be doing anything questionable with her.’ The demon quickly hit send before shoving it back in his pants pocket, folding his hands in his lap afterwards.
The room went silent after that and Daniel had a hard time finding something to say. Ama always intimidated him when she was angry. He always had to watch his feet and make sure he didn’t say something that would push her away completely. Both for his safety and to avoid losing a friend. A few more minutes passed before Daniel broke the silence by tapping a quick rhythm with his feet. “So... What now?”
“I can see why. It’s not very often that we get nights like this here.” She pulled out a pencil and adjusted something on one of her maps. “I can’t imagine anyone not liking stars. They’re easily the most beautiful things I can think of. And they hold so many stories too.” She sighed dreamily.
Daniel chucked quietly, leaning over a bit to get a quick look at the map she was adjusting. “I agree. Stars are magnificent and I cannot deny their existence in many stories. Including some of mine.” The demon smiled a little, before nodding towards the sky. “How many names do you know?”
I was trying to teach myself how to knit and, long story short, I'm in the ER now.
Ama stayed silent on her end of the line, staring at the floor. It would be petty to snark something about “why not call Eric”, and she wasn’t sure she was ready to stoop to that level quite yet. She heard her name from her phone’s speaker and sighed, rubbing her forehead. “Alright. Yeah. I’ll…I’ll be there in fifteen minutes. Tell that to whoever’s on the clock at the moment, too. They’ll want to know.”
The fairy offered a noncommittal hum and walked over to the desk where one of the nurses was on duty. “Hey, so, I hurt my writing hand and can’t really sign that one,” she thumbed over her shoulder at Daniel, “out. Could you do it for me?” She had her wallet and ID out before the nurse could ask for it and set it down on the counter. She waited quietly while the nurse wrote down the necessary info before stowing her wallet away, murmuring her thanks, and walking back to the demon. She tugged her hood up and glanced from him to the doors. “Let’s be off.”
As they walked out the automatic doors together, Ama kept close to his side, giving the appearance of being supportive and even a bit worried. Once out of sight of the glass doors, however, she sped up and took her hand out of her pocket. She turned her palm upwards and let the rain drench it. The redhead repressed a hiss but continued to let the rainwater gather in her palm and cool the irritated skin. She paid little heed to the man that she had just healed and kept up her swift pace in the direction of the apartments.
Daniel kept his eyes on the ground for the most part, even as they left the hospital. Not able to get himself to look up at Ama and face her disappointment, or the left over emotions for that night in the park. The demon fiddled absently as he tried to get himself to say what he needed to say to her. It was the whole reason he had called her over Eric and he couldn’t just let it go unsaid now. However, the second he thought he had the words down, Ama sped up.
He cursed under his breath before moving faster so that he was standing beside her again, glancing with concern at her hand before letting his eyes fall to the ground once again. “Uh... Ama? I know you’re upset but... There’s something I need to say,” Daniel said slowly, chewing his tongue nervously when he finally prompted the conversation.

((OMG YOU GEEK. ALRIGHT DW I GOT YOU COVERED))
Daniel stared up at the lady in front of him nervously. He hadn’t met many white women, but he couldn’t help the fear that bubbled up. The young boy rubbed his arms and stared at her feet.
“I am sorry.” He said quietly, not sure why he was apologizing. He hadn’t done anything bad this time, or at least he didn’t think he did.
Oh, Oberon…Daniel’s older self had said the same thing. She wondered idly why he liked strawberries so much while shucking her jacket off. “Ahora … ¿quieres ver algo de magia real?” she asked. The fairy crouched and rolled her shoulders a bit in preparation to release her wings. “Mira esto.” She inhaled slowly and, as she exhaled, allowed her wings to form and materialize outside her back. Her eyes blinked open– when had she closed them?– and she looked up at Daniel with a small smile.
“¿Qué te parece?” Ama let her wings flutter and sort themselves out before having them angle downwards slightly to lay pointing down. Her thought process had been “don’t let him freak out” and honestly, what better way to distract a kid than with magic? This way, she wouldn’t have to beat around the bush as much either and could even work on getting him back to his normal age.
Daniel’s eyes widened as Ama let out her wings, slapping his hands over his mouth to stifle a gasp when they were out fully. They were beautiful, and he could hardly believe his eyes. All children believed in magic, and the existence of mythological creatures, but actually being blessed with enough luck to actually see one or witness it was something else entirely. The young boy dropped his hands from his mouth.
“¿Usted es un hada?” He asked quietly, unsure if he could approach her. Daniel wanted to touch her wings. Badly. But he knew that running up and touching them without permission was definitely something he wasn’t allowed to do, so he stayed still. “Que son hermosas. ¡Eso fue incredeible!”

Devil’s Hole, Death Valley National Park, California
Devil’s Hole is a narrow chasm in the limestone of Death Valley. There are several legends of people disappearing down here. In 1965, several kids jumped in, and two never came out. Their bodies were never found. This hole is filled with water – some estimate it to be 1,000 feet deep – and it may be part of a larger underground system of rivers, as some have reported a current.

Pretending to be human was terrible and Daniel hated it. There were too many complications, too many distractions. It seemed clear now why so many of them didn't want to wait until their life was over. The demon stared hard at the dirt in front of him, thinking about the things he'd gotten himself into. It all started with the feelings he'd developed for Eric, followed by his need to betray and deceive and lastly just... Falling victim to his own temptation. He had jeopardized their relationship and, contrary to what he had told Ama, Daniel didn't want to break it off. He didn't and couldn't. He didn't know what to do and the voice that interrupted his thoughts was exactly what he needed. "Even if I did it would be a quick fix." He didn't have to look up to know it was Isa. Bless a shifter's stunning ability to remember. "I can even turn off the part of the human brain that registers pain if I wanted to."
((For Joseph))
Ugh. He felt terrible. That and he felt like an idiot. Right there in front of him was a pretty lady while he was barfing his brains out after eating stale communion bread. How brainless could he get? Joseph spat into the bag, trying to get rid of the disgusting taste in his mouth from the vomit before answering. "J-Joseph Boone. And uh... I definitely won't try to, Miss." He muttered, offering her friendly smile. Yeah. That was the last time he was going to trust anyone when they said food was fresh.
"Anything else you need?" He asked, wincing at the pain he felt in his stomach. Food poisoning. He just had to get food poisoning. Why couldn't he just get away with angry bowels for a night? He had a feeling the almighty stomach ache and disgusting vomit had something to do with punishment for his sins. He'd hardly been here for a month and he'd already gone against the Bible so many times. God must've been disappointed.
