Went to see Black Country New Road yesterday and I keep being haunted by the thought that Isaac departed before they toured Ants From Up There. The band never plays songs from their previous albums out of respect for him. No one has ever heard Concorde live, ever. Or Basketball shoes. Or Good Will Hunting. No one has ever been allowed the privilege of seeing Isaac scraping himself the way he does on AFUT, live. It’s like an intimate secret, between him and the rest of the band. Like lost media, but it’s very much still there, there’s proof of that album’s existence but not a single manifestation of it in the material world.
