Well, I don’t really know xD maybe because it’s way too obvious? and what would the outcome be? what impact would this have in the story?, it’s just a personal matter between Sabo and Teach and I really can’t see Oda doing ALL of this just to only let them settle it (and I think this is why he made Sabo tell Burgess he holds no grudge against them, it probably means it won’t be a focus point in the story) ... I mean, this is basically declaring war to the revolutionary army .3. it’s a big deal, if it’s happening only to show off Sabo then I’d be disappointed, I love him but I care more about world builiding. SO, I’m not that worried about him ovo and yes HE BETTER STAYS SAFE as I said in my post, good thing he isn’t alone ^^.

As for the predictions, I fully expect most of them to be wrong (the only one I’m sure of are Lucci getting a beatdown at some point. Maybe Chopper saving Iceberg and Paulie. That one makes sense).

Lucci’s pigeon is also dapper as fuck. It wears a tie (which was blood red, I should have KNOWN!). If there is anything I have learned from watching modern TV shows it is that vampires dress well. That pigeon must be a vampire. xD

Oooh, so it is highly likely that Smoker/Hina could be canon! This is good news. And thanks for the lovely compliment on the blog. I’ll keep going, alright - even if I get a job that’s demanding. I actually look forward to my regular installments of One Piece. They’ll be the thing that will keep me going, haha.

I wouldn’t dream of expecting the drama to stop escalating! I love me some drama, which is why I loved 238 so much. The collision of the two plot lines of Luffy vs. Franky and ‘Who Shot Iceberg?’ definitely hit the spot there. xD

That’s a good point and one I hadn’t thought about. Should have, though, because Luffy was clearly thinking about it in his flashbacks, remembering Usopp as a ‘proud man’ who called himself ‘Captain Usopp’.

Try really, really soon! I was honestly so surprised Oda resisted the temptation to drag out the mystery a little longer with a convenient bout of amnesia but definitely happy with the results. :)

See, this is why it’s hard to completely hate him. He was responsible for the break up of the Straw Hats but because of his flashy entrance, cyborg status and general sense of humour, I cannot hate him. This annoys me. xD

And there is a mysterious Him? With the single best intro of any character in One Piece? At least I have something to look forward too, after all the Usopp drama.

Totally agreed. It was briliantly done. Not a huge amount of melodrama (actually quite restrained) and there is no happy resolution. :(

He was definitely very captain-like in 235 and 236. He has a shrewd, serious side I don’t think I’ve seen yet. It was interesting. He’s not as happy-go-lucky as most shounen protagonists. There’s a generous helping of grey morality there, and a core of steel.

I can’t remember offhand if it was in an earlier episode, but that does make sense. So there is a lingering element of fear. Damn, Usopp. He fought so well against Luffy. If he put that much research and heart into his other fights, he’d be a monster.

Now that I’ve seen it, I completely understand where you’re coming from. Take the Dials and all the daft pranks away, and the fight is exactly as you said it is. Two friends who cannot get past something and who feel the only way forward is go their separate ways. It’s realistic, but damned sad. ;_;

I didn’t notice that! Mr 2 and Franky are both pretty flamboyant and charismatic. Should have noticed that one! As for 235... ugh. It was an amazing, unforgettable episode, but my feels are bruised.

Luffy does always take up for his nakama. It’s a pity Usopp sees the Merry as a living, breathing nakama and Luffy didn’t. That was the sticking point. Argh! And I think I might have got the significance of the Oda spoiler scarredtiger posted. Is the Merry a Strawhat, or isn’t it? If the death isn’t metaphorical, it’ll either be Usopp or the Merry.

It’s funny but I had never really noticed it until recently. Now I think about it, it goes right back to when he fed Don Krieg’s starving henchman on the Baratie. Sanji really is a good guy.

I completely forgot about that! Good point. That could have affected the keel, I suppose, though I have zero knowledge on ships. (Appreciated Paulie’s ship assemble 101 in episode 233, haha).

saisai-chan answered: if anything, you should definitely listen to Funimation’s dub for Kaku. it’s hard to get across that Kaku talks like an old man in the original, so to convey that FUNi had him say stuff like ‘darn tutin’ & 'in 3 shakes of a lamb’s tail’. You can listen to the OnePiecePodcast! they have everything in segments & you can skip around & a lot of the toonami episodes they recapped you’ve already seen. they also have a manga recap and an anime (as in new episodes) recap and news segments

amazingbedhead answered: I feel like the anime team did a good job of capturing that “ice water hitting your stomach” feeling during  the Merry reveal. They did a similar thing when Robin met that guy in the mask. The direction in this arc is just so fantastic.

There was a ton of additional ice water this episode. I am so worried right now, you have no idea. D:

celelorien answered: I never thought about that, what hmhl said, it being Bellamy’s fault? But they did have an AWFUL lot of ship-landing-on-its-keel-roughly adventures, not to mention hanging out in a whale’s digestive acids for a bit. Merry’s been through some stuff.

I think crashing down to the Blue Sea from Skypiea would not have helped. Poor Merry. :(  Maybe now, the Strawhats will take better care of either the Merry or whatever they’ll be sailing in the future.

the-rum-thief answered: when people say this arc is one hell of a ride, they aren’t joking. At all. And Merry’s literally through been hell, it didn’t surprise me at all when I got to this arc and Kaku let that bomb drop.

It’s strange, I should have been expecting it. The Merry has been through a rough time. Still, I thought it might have extra-strength shounen plot shield because it was their ship. Nothing is safe... ;_;

That’s it! The theme was 80s blacksploitation. Everything was soul-filled and funky. Gawd. xD  There seems to be a consensus that 217-218 are hilarious dubs.

That Noro Noro beam could have been something special if a more ruthless character had got their hands on that fruit. If Luffy hadn’t found that shard of mirror things might have turned out differently. Foxy gave him a good match (though it was heavily skewed in his favour).

Also, the arc is almost over, but I should warn you, the arc ends with filler bullcrap in the anime, whereas in the manga, it ends with the Straw Hats meeting someone VERY, VERY important (they do meet him later in the anime, but it’ll take a couple more filler arcs…(HEAVY SIGH))…

There is filler bullcrap? Is this skippable? I know I have to watch two episodes in particular to meet this important someone, but if possible, I’d rather skip the bullcrap. :)
