Luffy: Sanji! There’s a message in my alphabets! It says “Oooooo”!
Sanji: Luffy, those are cheerios.
Luffy: Please. Stop praying for my grandpa!!!!! You are making him too strong. He broke out of the hospital and the cops can't get him. He’s too powerful.
Crocodile: *answering Den-Den Mushi* This is Crocodile.
Doflamingo: It’s Doffy. Why haven’t you been messaging me on my pager?
Crocodile: Because the Strawhats are here right now and I hate you.
Doflamingo: Oh, Okay! So when are you going to message me on my pager?
Crocodile: *hangs up*
Shirahoshi: *resting chest on Luffy* Oh, this is so very comfy-womfy.
Luffy: Why are there huge boob-like things on my head?
Shirahoshi: Well, I was thinking, it would be nice to have you here to take a load off a few things.
Luffy: Oh, thank you so much! The kindness within your mighty breasts has left me overwhelmed.
Shirahoshi: They like you too.
Nami: *trips near Usopp*
Sanji: Are you okay!?
Usopp: Oh yes, I’m fine, thank you. How are you?
x-chick303 answered: It gets funnier with Buggy. You will be shocked and awed with how ridiculous it gets.
Buggy’s disembodied head screaming down a tunnel was a great start. xD
leo-regulus answered: Welcome to Impel Down. Make sure to brace yourself for feels. This arc? This arc, Oda decided we’re big boys and girls, and he doesn’t need to hold back anymore
Aw, fuck. This cannot be good.... ;_;
tempus-nexus answered: Perona’s Island? Oh, nonononono. Perona’s only there because SHE got sent there by Kuma, remember? The island’s ACTUAL inhabitants and ruler… well. Spoilers
Oh! I never thought about the natives of the island. D: Who the hell could it be then? I have no clue!
meheartonepiece answered: I remember the anime really fucking up Robin’s nose in her episodes, but I’m not sure about anything else. I love that colour spread showing the strawhats’ first appearance, really makes you think on how much they’ve been through and changed :’)
Their design has changed so much, right? It’s so funny, I haven’t really noticed, either. Little bit glad Robin ditched the rhinestone cowboy get up, though. Her outfit for Thriller Bark is my favourite so far. ^_^
sparktehfox answered: Something odd I noticed about Kuma was that Oda had depicted his “Bible” with a target on it.
Does this mean Kuma’s particular brand of salvation is very specifically targeted? xD (But really, though. He only saves certain people and he saved the Strawhats by sending most of them to really specific places he knows will help them grow in strength).
blogquantumreality answered: Incidentally are you watching on a fansub site again? I’ve noticed you’re using caps that have the fansub font in them. :)
Yeah, I had to briefly switch to an alternative provider. CR broke. It’s fine now, so I’m back on there again. ^_^
cheffailure answered: You don’t like bananas? That’s a crying shame. Although admittedly, their smell do stand out in garbage, and mixing anything with banana is only going to result in more banana.
Dante’s Inferno (or Divine Comedy, for the book-readers) is an apt comparison, and a lot more closely inspired than you might have noticed. Just keep watching. Also, a marvelous guess as to Magellan’s nature. He’s a real treat.
Heh, funny to hear that you had some conflicting thoughts about Garp. I was surprised myself when I read about people who gave the old man shit for letting Ace stay imprisoned. Hopefully, you’ll get to see more of this relationship in the future. Maybe you’ll stay irritated, maybe you won’t. Who knows? Still, it puts a whole new dimension as to why Garp wanted Ace and Luffy to become Marines, doesn’t it?
Funnily enough, I probably Buggy about 95% compared to most of the audience’s 100%. It’s not about him, it’s just related to personal philosophy. Enthusiasm is contagious though, and you’ll probably love him even more than you already do. I actually do now.
I hate them. They’re the food of Satan. xD One of those foods I try every couple of years to check if my tastes have changed and I quickly realise, as I take a bite, that no, nothing has changed and bananas are still gross to me. xD
What?? So my original guess as to Magellan’s nature was actually close? I thought, after the last episode, that he was more of a comedy character!
I definitely don’t hate Garp. I understand completely what he is doing. It’s not his fault Ace set himself on the path of piracy. Garp has his Marine family to look out for too. He’s torn in two, and it’s sad, but Ace made his bed and he’ll have to lie in it, sad as it is. ;_;
half-man-half-lime answered: There’s exactly one person whose return can (debatably) top Buggy’s. As for who? You’ll know it when you see it.
Who could possibly top Buggy??? D:
blogquantumreality answered: By the way, if you want to compare how badly translated the fansubs can get? Check this shit.
Larger image: Crunchyroll. Inset: Fansubbed version.
Yeaaaah, those are both quite different. Seems the fansubbers take greater liberties when translating. It sounds funnier, but it’s not at all accurate.
littlebunny123world answered: I bet you are gonna freak out at how this arc is gonna turn out, you will never expect it!
All I’ve got at the moment is a reunion with the Baroque Works members from the cover story. That’s it! Everything else will be a huge surprise. ^_^

I’ve found this really cool post on reddit: “A while ago I read theory on tvtropes that Franky was the Christlike figure in One Piece. While the reasons were too out there I can’t deny that Franky has been tied to Judaeo-Christian motifs and there are some parallels with Jesus.
1. He has been connected to the Treasure Tree Adam. 2. He named his King Bulls Sodom and Gomorrah and of them was actually blinded. 3. He came back from the dead. He didn’t really die but people thought he did but then he showed up later. 4. He helped to build a train that could stand and travel on water. 5. He had an adopted father. And Tom was a fishman who are persecuted. Also this makes me think of the line where Jesus says to Peter I will make you a fisher of men. I’m probably pulling at strings but Tom also parallels to Jesus he is executed by the World govt even though he was innocence and sacrificed himself for his students could live. Also Tom put pride in his work taught Franky never to deny his creations and never denied making the Roger’s ship, which is opposite of Peter who is famous for denying Jesus three times. 6. Franky has always been kind too those destitute and marginalized by society. Franky Family was made up of people who didn’t have a place in society until Franky took them in. He also has a very caring heart he always cries when hearing the pain of others. He does take up the cause of those who are persecuted. 7. Franky walks around half naked without a care in the world. Nakedness is a sign of purity/innocence and in Sunday school I was thought we hide out nakedness because of sin.”
Some of them are reaching, but, damn... a lot of those are eerily on the money. Maybe Oda does take inspiration from western sources, after all. 1-3, then 6 (plus 4, to a lesser extent) are all good points.
Mind. Blown. D:
meheartonepiece answered: You know, because of the new one piece game (don’t look it up, spoilers on the very front cover >~<) my brother’s interest was rekindled, and he caught up to the anime. Unfortunately, this happened as I wanted him to watch Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure with me T-T we managed to do both anyway XDDI think that it’s thanks to Buggy’s devil fruit, which renders him invulnerable to blades, that they were able to fly around like that. I certainly remember the panel showing his feet getting cut up while his body and Luffy flew overhead. Lots of teamups in this arc~!! You’re gonna dance when the next one happens ;) X3333
I still haven’t got round to watching JJBA! It’s on my list, though. One Punch Man will probably come first, though. Everyone’s saying it’s awesome.
I totally missed Buggy’s feet being cut up by the blades. Damn, Buggy taking one for the Dream Team right there. Our hero! xD
nounoursonne answered: Buggy’s scene admiting he shouldn’t be trusted made me laugh so much back then…. Buggy is probably my favourite character for this arc.Now you met Magellan and saw Mister 3 ! Many other things to discover though !the following episodes are filler (bad fillers…) for Strong World, will you watch it (the movie) soon ? (it’s okay if you don’t I just wanna know)
Hahaha, Buggy is just generally hilarious. He shouldn’t be trusted at all, but you just can’t help but love him anyway. xD
I was warned against the terribad fillers, so I skipped straight to 430. ^_^ Don’t think I’ll watch Strong World for a while. The lure of canon is too strong right now.
sebazu answered: That Basilisk was totally in the manga.http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/onepiece/images/d/db/Basilisk_Portrait.png/revision/20091108063815 http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/onepiece/images/c/c9/Basilisk_Manga_Infobox.png/revision/latest?cb=20140923221110 Also, Magellan doesnt get the runs because of his fruit, it’s because his devil fruit allows him not to die while eating poison, which is his favorite meal.
Not quite as creepy in the manga, for some reason. The anime team did a good job there. Maybe it was the colour scheme? Thanks for the comparison images!
infriga answered: Fun little tidbit: Captain John was one of the elite Zombies on Thriller Bark.
Ahaha! I knew it! Good to have that confirmed. I remember being told to keep an eye on him at the time. ^_^
martyslittleusedblog answered: Anyway, you thought the Basilisk was too creepy for Shounen? Ohoho… I’ve seen much worse… For example, are you telling me that that beast was creepier than Absalom and Hogback? I’m guessing you forgot about ‘em, because you wanted to. I don’t blame ya. : /
Ugh, Hogback.
For some reason, I can tolerate Absalom. He was a creepy, though comical, pervert who needed a slap. Hogback is just the worst. Ain’t much funny about Hogback.
chilledninja answered: Found your blog a week ago and I gotta say I love seeing your journey through One Piece! Aside from that, Impel Down is one of my favorite arcs and Luffy’s Dream Team that he gathers plays into why I think so. (Also Magellan, but I can’t say why ‘cuz spoils) ^-^
Thanks, chilledninja! It’s great you found this thing round about your favourite arc. That’ll make my wrong guesses all the more hilarious. ^_^ (And it’ll make my correct ones all the more awesome, haha).
I’m waiting for Magellan to be awesome. I’m assuming he’s worthy of the Warden title. Just have to wait to see what Oda brings to the table. ^_^
?
Sorry for the lack of updates. I was invited for another one of those interviews, so was preparing for it. Then it dawned on me: why am I putting myself through interview torture if I already have an offer for the place I want to go to? I declined all the others and accepted a firm place. This means I have time for One Piece again! Will watch more episodes tomorrow. Have to catch up with replies first. ^_^
tl;dr version: Was preparing for interview. No longer have interview. Now have time for One Piece.
nounoursonne answered: “WB is old and practically on life support” Oh boy…what would it be if he wasn’t…He still is a Yonkou… Just imagine x) For Jinbe it will be explained. As for Hancock’s crush, not the biggest fan but it’s still funny sometimes.Next eps are sweet
If Whitebeard is the strongest pirate in the world right now, then he would have been RIDICULOUS when he was younger. How could Roger compete?
? is here again because I am an absent-minded sausage.
slaxtheraven answered: Luffy’s situation kinda reminds me of Brook. Except Brook’s case was even worse. His crew died on his own eyes and he had to live with it for 50 years alone on a ship in the middle of nowhere =( They’re both very cheerful and happy personas…Oh, and I’m not sure if I should tell you Capone Bege’s DF name. It hasn’t been mentioned in the anime yet, however it’s nothing you didn’t know and a japanese name won’t tell you much anyway. Should I?
On man, I am so obsessed with Moria I forgot about poor Brook. You are right. Their situations are similar (except Brook’s was far worse). ;_;
Sure, you can tell me the japanese name of Capone Bege’s DF. It shouldn’t be a spoiler. I already know roughly what it can do. ^_^
