LET'S BUILD SOME WORLD. Hmm, OK, so if there was a big uprising in the lair, would the clan survive it? How many sides would there be, and who'd be on them? How would the winners punish the losers?
!!! Can you read minds? I’ve been thinking about using something like this as a reason to switch Flights, so this is gonna be a long one!
The clan, or a small group keeping the name of it, would definitely survive an all-out uprising. Nearly all the dragons in the clan have some level of proficiency with combat, because the Beastclans are a constant threat.
There would be two sides, the dragons who worship the Gladekeeper vs the dragons who worship the Plaguebringer. They’d most likely be warring over the control of the Clan, because the current matriarch is a Nature dragon and her consort is Plague, but he only controls a subsection of the lair.
If the Clansguard (Coli warriors, border patrols, hunters etc) got involved and tried to mediate/support one side, then there would be three factions, the same number that the clan has during peacetime. If the Wildclaw pack, made up entirely of mercenaries and pirates, split off from the Clansguard and was employed by one of the main factions, it’d be a lot harder for any dragons to survive, and only the “wild” dragons who don’t live in the main territory and the hatchlings would be left, as well as any dragons from the winning faction.
There are a few Shadetouched in the lair too, but they’d probably be on the Plague side of things, because they would be less likely to be detected.
If the Gladekeeper’s devotees won, they’d probably offer their defeated clanmates a chance to switch sides and start over again, because enough lives would have been ended in the fighting. They’re a group of dragons who’ll only fight when it’s absolutely necessary, and they abhor taking lives, so any nonrepentant losers would probably be banished to the Plague territory or exalted to their deity.
If the Plaguebringer’s devotees won, they would most likely kill all the “footsoldiers” of the losing side, those dragons without titles or an important position. They’re a group that likes to gloat, so they might organize a mock trial with the “innocent” being exalted and the “guilty” being pushed into the swamp. It’s likely that they’d spare the hatchlings and the clan’s inventor, only because the clan needs a future (and someone who knows proper disease containment protocols).
If the Clansguard, with the Wildclaws still in their employ, were the victors, I imagine some sort of Council would be set up, with all the Guards having a vote with what to do with the defeated. Exile would probably be the worst punishment dished out by this group, only because a majority would outvote those in favor of executions.
WORLD HAS BEEN BUILT. MANY THANKS.
