If this has already infected your blog, I believe you need to go to:

Settings -> Apps

And look for something that shouldn’t be there and click the X to get rid of it.

The Amazon Santa Giveaway is a scam. It forces you to reblog that post, then makes you enter an email, then tells you that you have to sign up for a movie service that you have to pay for. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK ON THE AMAZON SANTA!

DON'T REBLOG POSTS WARNING ABOUT A SCAM SITE THAT LINK THE SCAM SITE

Scam websites don’t need you to do anything to effect your computer. Think of the fan mail you got. How many ask you to just “start up a flash game to see is it works?”

The same general principle applies to even entering third party site. They can use scripts that put malware, adware, etc on your computer without your knowledge or any input from you.

Stay safe, use the Web of Trust extension to block and warn of malicious/unfriendly sites, and use NoScript or some other script blocking extension of you want to be v sure that a website can’t do anything without you knowing.

What amazon virus? D8

It’s a Tumblr-based virus that hijacks your blog to make posts about a fake $100 Amazon gift card promotion.  Clicking on the link is what spreads the virus.  We managed to get rid of it late last night, but be wary if you see posts like that floating around your dashboard from others also.

If you do end up with it, though, in addition to running your personal virus scanner on your computer, you need to go to tumblr.com/settings/apps (you have to type it in, you can’t get to it from the settings page anymore) which is where you find third-party applications that have posting access to your tumblr (like if you have your Instagram connected to your Tumblr) and disable anything unfamiliar -- it was listed under something like “Amazon Santa” for us, but no guarantee that it would have that name for everyone.

Guys I apologize for the Amazon tumblr gifts posts. I usually do not fall for those types of things at all but I fell for it this time. Those posts should be gone now. Please do not reblog them or put ANY personal information into those types of surveys. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.
