There is no "debate" on whether Amazon's Fallout retconned New Vegas or not. It did. Full stop.

New Vegas takes place in 2281, while in Amazon's Fallout Shady Sands was nuked by vault-tec in 2277. There is no mention of Shady Sands being destroyed or the NCR collapsing in New Vegas. How the hell the NCR is fighting a whole ass war against the legion in the mojave while their capital was destroyed years earlier is also unexplained.

Not to mention the NCR is more than just Shady Sands, but whatever. I guess the hub, dayglow, new reno, vault city, and boneyard are also destroyed? or seceded? They don't even get a passing mention, so who the hell knows, lol.

So with House' actor confirmed for season two there are a few possibilities here.

The NCR won the second battle of Hoover Dam but was forced out of the Mojave and southern California after the nuking of Shady Sands. Why "The Fall of Shady Sands" in 2277 was never mentioned during the events of New Vegas in 2281 is... anyone's guess. The Legion probably collapsed into various squabbling raider factions after Sallow's inevitable death from his brain tumor as well.

The House ending is Canon and The NCR pulled out of the Mojave and southern California after the nuking of Shady Sands. New Vegas fell to ruin due to unknown factors in the time between new Vegas and Amazon's Fallout.

The Legion ending is canon but it collapsed into various squabbling raider factions after Sallow's aforementioned death, preventing them from consolidating their hold on the Mojave.

House appears in more flashback scenes from before the great war.

I think that about covers it.

Season two better involve The NCR coming back to SoCal to stomp some technocultist ass or so help me.

I've more or less come to terms with Amazon's Fallout being canon. The thing that bums me out about it is that New Vegas doesn't matter.

The events of New Vegas don't matter. The NCR retreated from southern california due to an entirely unrelated event. New Vegas itself is just another ruin in the wasteland. And the legion is so irrelevant that it doesn't even get a passing mention.

What the hell is the point of replaying New Vegas if you know that no matter what you do it doesn't matter?

So I guess the BoS ending is the canon ending of Fallout 4? That...sucks.

The Brotherhood has a cool aesthetic, but they're overrated as all hell.

What I really want to know is who won the second battle of Hoover Dam? I know it doesn't really matter what with the partial collapse of The NCR, but I still need to know!

The New Vegas Ending According To The Fallout TV Show

The Amazon show fans can eat their flea soup. I wanted a Wasteland Omelet.

I'm still salty about Amazon's Fallout. So I'm making a list of burning questions I have.

!. Where is the rest of The NCR?!? According to Todd (praise be) The NCR still exists, and the republic hasn't fallen entirely. But they must be pretty weak if The BoS can operate openly. Are the surviving bunkers in NCR territory fighting the republic again? So many questions...

2. Where are The BoS and Enclave operating from? There's plenty of space between the NCR and east coast, but it seems like The BoS and Enclave have established bases for themselves relatively close to California. It's a little weird to me that The BoS and Enclave are kinda just dicking around in the middle of nowhere, but it's not really a big deal. I just hope they actually do something with The Enclave.

3. When did the BoS rule the wasteland? The BoS has some sort of control over the capital wasteland, but The BoS ruling the wasteland was mentioned in past tense. And they never ruled anything in the core region where the show takes place.

4. What the hell is an elder cleric? Is that what we're calling BoS Elders now? Seems weird to just drop that in the show like that.

All in all I still really really really really hate that they've decided to confirm Vault-Tec as having started the great war. Even if it is on behalf of The Enclave, that's just really uninteresting to me. But knowing The NCR survived and can make a comeback has softened my opinion of the show. I'll give season two a chance. Hopefully that's not a mistake.
