Hello. I'm TheAverageCommenter from Deviantart and this is my tumblr blog. Here I talk about various things like video games, cartoons, etc. ranging from E for everyone like Pokémon and Steven Universe to M like Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss and God of War.
While I like the idea of a game about Clank's secret agent persona, I wouldn't have liked it for things like the constant quick time events and how stealth was a factor in gameplay, and how the Ratchet and Qwark segments are very similar.
While on the topic, I'm one of those people who agrees that the events of the game are really a dream Clank is having in between post TOD and pre ACIT. It is the best scenario that still makes it canon.
Last week Sony revealed that starting January 2028, they will stop making physical disc versions of PlayStation games, at least for new games. This and other recent news, like how one of their biggest disc manufacturers in the EU is already being converted into something else, caused an obvious uproar from not only PlayStation fans but from the entire gaming community and beyond.
While a bit late, as a PlayStation fan I wanted to post my thoughts on this. Please read the entire thing before commenting.
While this news is obviously sad since game discs have been a part of the gaming community for decades, this isn’t exactly a big out of nowhere shock to me since PlayStation (and other companies) have been slowly pushing for digital only games since the first wave of PS5 consoles came out.
Still there is no denying that Sony chose the WORST time to announce this, since it happened shortly after their claims about how someone buying and downloading digital games doesn’t mean the person owns it. That is both scary for multiple reasons and a bit confusing, especially when there are companies like Xfinity and Apple that will let you buy and download movies, tv shows/seasons, and music then let you keep it afterwards no matter how long ago you bought from them. Sony’s statements make it sound like they just want to become like GameFly in a way.
At least the good news is that PlayStation fans have about 17-18 months before Sony stops making discs, and I learned a long time ago that A LOT can happen in a short time. Maybe then something will happen.
Maybe Sony could make a compromise and push back on this decision till 2030. This way we have the rest of this decade to enjoy disc versions of games. There is also the idea that they only make discs for PlayStation exclusive franchises like Ratchet & Clank, God of War, etc. as a kind of unique preorder. I would really love to have the long awaited Ratchet & Clank Lombax Dimension game in disc form. Also while unlikely to happen, I wonder if they would also consider pushing back the release of the PS6 too, so physical discs can stay around a bit longer. While I personally haven’t complained about this would also give us a few more PS5 exclusives.
If not then 2027 should be a big year for physical games. Sony should use that time to release/re-release remasters of iconic PlayStation exclusive games AND do game collections. At least then I can finally have my long dream of a Ratchet & Clank Future saga collection come true. I did see an article saying Sony will still make physical discs of games that have already come out, so hopefully 2027 is the year they do that.
Also if they are going for a digital only PS6, then Sony should make the PlayStation 6 have A LOT of storage, enough for at least a decade worth of games. This way customers don’t have to worry about having to delete old game files and applications to make room for new games. Yeah I know there are methods to prevent this already, but better safe than sorry so customers won’t have to buy the same game over and over again.
At the end of the day I just don't want these decisions to hurt both long time fans of PlayStation and the good game companies that have created great games for decades. Hopefully something good will happen soon.
Do you hope that any of these things will happen? If so what?
While her backwards talking is fun, it is always nice to be reminded that she doesn't need to do that to do magic, which also helps get rid of her obvious weakness.
This YouTube channel does fun DC Comic related comic dubs.
Currently they are doing a series of videos based on a Harley Quinn story of her being on a Love Island parody, featuring an obscure Batman villain The Easer.
A bit late but if you are looking for something 4th of July themed to watch today, check out the Batman: The Brave and the Bold episode "Cry Freedom Fighters!".
There you can watch Batman and Pastic Man fight evil alongside Uncle Sam, who is an actual character in the DC universe.
I personally believe that when a big anniversary milestone is reached, you have the option to celebrate it for that entire year.
With the United States of America being 250 now, I can see a lot happening till the next 4th of July, but one thing I really want to see is DC and Marvel releasing a crossover comic or two where Superman and Captain America go on a few adventures. Now is the perfect time for this with DC and Marvel doing crossover comics again.
A lot of fun stuff can happen in such a crossover like Superman using Captain America's shield again, maybe an accident causes them to fuse into Super-Soldier again for a minute (good fan service scene), Captain America meeting DC's Uncle Sam, and Superman giving Captain America Platinum Kryptonite.
I like to think this was the source for this one joke in that DCAU episode with the Joker taking over Vegas. While the city is evacuated there is one lady still gambling and when the Joker ask if she is scared of what is going on, the lady just says no as the machine she is playing on will pay up soon.
Fun fact the first DC villainess to be called Star Sapphire was someone Jay Garrick Flash fought on 2 occasions. Decades later she would return to fight the Barry Allen Flash, where there would be a small retcon saying she use to lead the Zamarons before they banished her, explaining her origin of being from a “7th dimension” as she calls it and her long absence since the Golden Age.
With this news I wonder how Jay Garrick would react to the Star Sapphire corp? Has he interacted with modern day Carol Ferris Star Sapphire?
I know the common consensus is that the Ratchet and Clank movie is filled with lame jokes, but this scene with Dr. Nefarious kills me every single time.
It would be interesting if Ratchet met Susie again, same about this old idea I saw floating around when A4O came out about Ratchet and Talwyn adopting her.
Apparently Xbox might cancel the Blade game that was teased in 2023, something I forgot about actually. While it was likely going to be an Xbox exclusive (though given their recent history up till like a month ago, I doubt it) it is still a bummer as it is a fun idea.
If it does get cancelled I wonder Sony could then buy the project and have a PlayStation company work on it.
Now I bet a lot of you are thinking that Insomniac Games should work on a Blade game but NO! Along with how they are busy enough already (seriously Ratchet & Clank needs time in the spotlight again after Wolverine) I think Sucker Punch Productions could make a fun Blade game.
Just imagine a Blade game with gameplay elements similar to the companies "Infamous" and "Ghost of" franchises! That would be fun.
