What to know: They are medium-key Amber/Richie coded; met online in film, TV, and music circles in early 2009. (Story begins in Fall of '09.) They hit it off, started having an age-inappropriate friendship. One night (chapter 1), she is hanging out in the woods like the Weird Girl™ that she is, when gets attacked and bit by a fairy. Instead of going to her girlfriend (Barbie) or her best friend (Ophelia), she manically drives to Zach's home a town away. This is their first in-person meeting. He lets her stay at his place for a couple of days, she flirts with him, he is panicked and flustered. They quickly start falling in love with each other, but he is trying to be a Good Boy about it.
Being a fairy now, Cass loses it a bit, and starts giving in to her darker desires. Zach, being a good friend and boy toy, helps her out with this. They try and fail (in different ways) to kill Barbie, Barbie's friend/co-worker (Lincoln), and Barbie's ex (Michael). Zach's girlfriend of one year, Allison (a werewolf), figures out that he's dating her little sister's now-ex-girlfriend, and tears Zach the fuck up! Cass finds him and heals him... by biting him and turning him into a fairy!
A lot more happens, Bad Things spans about 7-8 years, but I'll leave it here.
will never agree w the argument of “amber and richie never shouldve been dating bc its gross and unrealistic they shouldve just been friends!!!” bc. aside from it nine times out of ten just being used as a thinly (if at all) veiled way to say “this r/s shouldnt have happened bc it squicks me out personally” as opposed to any genuine issue w the ‘realism’ of it. or the fact that there are much bigger fish to fry if you really care about how logical any of it is. literally just look at amber. i’m being so fr. it would have been 1000x less realistic if richie didn’t at least TRY shooting his shot bc if you were literally Just Some Guy off the stab subreddit why would you ever fumble THAT 😭
when the scream fandom realizes that not every ghostface duo/team has a head honcho + manipulated accomplice/fall guy dynamic going on…then and only then will i know peace (so prolly never)
