Spoilers for The Darkness Outside Us, Iron Lung, and Project Hail Mary.
An idea for a 3-way crossover fic that I’m making public so the idea won’t just collect dust in my head because I don’t have time to write this fanfic to give it justice.
noticing that the fandom for the darkness outside us is slowly growing on this app so I thought I’d slide over this art I made for kodiak’s birthday last year!!
and for those wondering where the fandom is for these books, there’s a lot of us over on twitter yapping about these boys every day 😭🫶
POLARIS
: North Star, Pole Star, guiding star, tail of the cub the sailor’s guide fixed in the sky, unchanging as the earth spins telling those who wander to come home.
(or; in every universe, ambrose and kodiak find their way back to each other.)

“You’re always helpful,” Kodiak says, and Ambrose’s heart skips a beat. “Except when we’re going over orbital mechanics.” “Hey, I’m trying! Hyperbolic orbits are confusing.” “Perhaps if you stopped taking up time in class with all your questions…” “There’s nothing wrong with having a curious mind,” Ambrose sniffs. Kodiak rolls his eyes, but there’s a small smile on his lips. Ambrose wants to kiss it.
ambrodiak modern/college au!!
Why do you even need positive posts about Ambrose and Kodiak to like them? Why do you want to like them if it sounds like you didn't? Why not just move on to a different book?
You've never had something stick in your head, but for the wrong reasons? I need a palette cleanser.
For those who've read the books, you know they stick with you... so I was impacted by the story, but I wanted it to stick for different reasons. Obviously the existential questions the books raise are still very intriguing to me, but I'm surprised I wasn't as sold on the romance. [I might even need to read them (again)...I was recommended to listen to the audiobooks, which I liked for certain reasons, but maybe I overlooked moments between Ambrose and Kodiak that built their relationship that would have stuck out if I were reading as opposed to listening.]
Also, since the sequel has a higher rating on goodreads than the original, I also thought I would enjoy it more. Instead, I'm a bit puzzled by that rating.
I got attached to the characters and that's why I was left wanting more.
More spoilers under the cut.
With the present story on Minerva, it was in the point of view of their children. While I loved the glimpses of their relationship, I didn't feel like I saw enough. I was left wondering what they thought about specific things that happened to them.
What tag do Ambrose/Kodiak shippers use? I thought their ship name was Ambrodiak, but tumblr only shows me five posts in total in their entire tag.
Complaints/issues (spoilers from the books) under the cut.
